(3,963 posts)There is a difference between Ebola and guns. I mean, Ebola could spread and get out of control. It's one of those cases, where one case can become 10, the 100, and grow exponentially. Comparing it with gun deaths is not entirely fair... That said, I agree that nothing is being done at all about guns (and I'm totally in favor of comparing gun deaths with 911 and realizing how priorities are off).

(17,217 posts)Ebola doesn't really make much money for anyone, so we can safely demand action. But firearms, pollution, industrial safety, what have you... these all bring in the cash, so who cares?
20,000 people die in automobile accidents every year (or whatever the current rate is). Anyone talking about banning cars? Nope, because it is the price we pay for the convenience of the conveyance.

(16,296 posts)What about the 2nd Amendment, the Constitution and all that stuff.
Now here's a reply from a post I recently made about guns in England and the police being able to go into a home without a warrant to investigate if any of a person's registered guns were stolen - minor editing done to make it more germaine to present topic.
"Too bad we have constitional rights to protect is from this. What will they want next
Lets see, no warrant needed to search for drugs, no warrant needed for anything on your computer or phone, no 5th amendment protection against self incrimination. How about that first amendment, are you for losing that one also?
Those pesky rights
Nope, can't imagine that here in America. We tend to enjoy our rights. "
When you have this type of thinking, America will make no progress and the blood will continue to flow. Typical gun nut, taking extremes on an issue that needs correcting.

(616 posts)I would draw a cartoon with a very obese couple sprawled in their easy chairs and watching Fox News. They would be smoking cigarettes and eating potato chips. There would be an array of guns hanging on the wall. One of them would be saying something like,
Obama's policies are exposing us to health risks!"
