I am normally rather indifferent to sports, but I lived in the KC area 1990-2008, and they were pretty much a joke that entire time.

This entire post season has been exceptionally sweet for them.

in Feb in vegas to win the pennant and world series. At the time it was a joke. Now, not so much!

Or only one? Meaning you collect on the ALCS part of the bet and forego the WS part, or hang in there and either win or lose the bet?

Good for you for making the bet. I hope you celebrate wisely after they win the World Series.

I don't happen to make bets myself, but it sounds as if you made a very good, calculated bet. Not too much money, and wonderful payout. Have a wonderful time with the money!

shows that in 49 states the people have been rooting for the Royals.

The only holdout is Maryland. What's that about?

I grew up in KC... I went to both the A's games (as a small boy) and to the Royals games.

I went to a game in both World Series that the Royals played in...

And I've lived in the Bay Area for the last 25 years, grew to love the Giants and their return to World Series.

If that is the series... I win either way.

I am right now watching live streaming from one of the Kansas City stations about the Royals.

Lots of stand-ups with ordinary fans. It's great.

Added on edit: Inside the stadium, a half hour after the end of the game, a lot of fans are still there and all the players are still on the field. Nice that this happened at home.

I've been a fan of this team since 94 when Bob Hamelin started a bench clearing brawl and KC clobbered Detroit in my first mlb game. I knew sticking with the royals would pay off someday!

The Orioles were another team I liked but the Royals winning was fine with me. The Orioles lost 3 of their best players and still did a fine job. They were worthy opponents even if they ran out of steam.

Don't bet on the Royals sweeping the Giants. They very well may. However, SF is another team with some funky mojo moving. They scored runs in game four with no balls leaving the infield at times. They don't run like the Royals but they aren't a conventional team either.

I will root for the Royals but it should be fun.
