Could have changed a lot about where we are today with ISIS.
I remember how folks were ridiculed for suggesting a link between the Bush family and the Saudis...accused of being baseless conspiracy nuts. Still think so? Listen to this discussion and recall what VP Biden said just a day ago.

(5,082 posts)Conspiracy is about as dirty a word as liberal. It's bullshit. We have 500,000 people in prison on conspiracy charges but it's unthinkable that at the top high crimes aren't committed? They are committed more there. Just because small minds can't fathom it doesn't make it not true. And most of the disinformation propaganda is from paid contractors online. On HuffPost a huge chunk of people making it their job to discredit 911 conspiracy talk were paid military contractors.

(2,392 posts)People don't like to think that the leaders of their country are acting in bad faith. Also the media doesn't like to be called out for ignoring corruption. It's so much easier for members of the media to bash 9/11 truthers. In US society the media typically is not called to task for their awful reporting on 9/11. By that I mean there are highly credible reports that the CIA deliberately withheld information about al-Hazmi and al-Mihdhar. Not a single US reporter has ever gotten a credible explanation for this conduct. In fact the chief of the CIA Bin Laden unit has never been interviewed.
We all saw how Roger Goodell got boatloads of criticism for his conduct in regard to mishandling the Ray Rice investigation. So I ask why on earth was there no scrutiny for CIA officials who withheld crucial information about 9/11 plotters? It's not a good analogy but my point is that the NFL Commissioner received more media criticism for mishandling an investigation after the fact than US government officials received for mishandling al Qaeda investigations before and after 9/11. It takes a cowardly media to look at this sort of conduct and respond by bashing 9/11 truthers.

(84,711 posts)from Bush I and II coming home to roost. That those different Groups would "Come Together" under a banner that struck fear into the heart of President Obama and SOS John Kerry so that they took us to war AGAIN as Democrats not Bush Repubs......speaks to how America should NEVER HAVE BEEN INVOLVED in this ME Fight in the First Place.
But...we have to protect Israel....and all follows from our vows to do that and the money spent for us to do that. It's not really about protecting Israel though. It's protecting Interests of Israel and their incredibly Powerful Netanyahu who will not compromise and seems to prefer eradicating Palestine and all those retailiating against the Israeli Settlements and Bombings (Mowing the Lawn) that Israel continues to do ....causing death, maiming and destruction to innocents in Palistine because Israel won't go to a bargaining table with Palestine to work out a solution.
This is where we are.

(22,666 posts)...to the point that the ONLY flight allowed outside the US after 9/11 was one to send one of them back to Saudi Arabia (I believe this was the next day), I find this very VERY interesting, along with the fact that Bush essentially refused/deliberately failed to go after Osama after 9/11 - he had absolutely NO interest in exposing or retaliating against those WERE actually responsible for 9/11 - his buddies in the oil business - the Sauds. He instead cooked up bullshit excuses to invade and occupy Iraq instead.
VERY interesting.
Why isn't that effing psychopath and his Tricky Dick sidekick in PRISON?

(915 posts)More precisely, those who are apathetic, ignorant, and those who ridicule, are empowering those in our government, media and institutions who are protecting the real terrorists.
"My personal feeling is that it probably had more to do with things like protecting the special relationship between the United States and Saudi Arabia, the close family ties between the bUsh family and the Saudi, er, Kingdom. And the desire to avoid embarassment to the agencies, whose activities would have been disclosed by the release of those 28 pages."

What will it take to get the truth out?

(2,392 posts)makes a mockery of government claims in regard to needing police state powers to prevent terrorist attacks. For example the CIA torture program becomes nothing short of a full scale criminal conspiracy.
Note how we haven't had anything approaching a Church Commission. Instead in this day and age the CIA gets to redact a report that was intended to inform the public about the CIA's use of torture.

They are War Criminal and Traitors to the United States of America. Simple as that.

(Although suppressing the truth has also helped to promote more wars and chaos).
I'm not even sure the truth could come out to the masses given that the structure of the MSM is designed to prevent that.
I also worry that the UN is not strong enough to hold the world together.
There is a logjam of suppressed reports including this one, the CIA torture report and the (UK) Iraq Inquiry.

(9,922 posts)Congresswoman, have you read the 28 pages?
SNIP
In our work to help achieve the declassification of this materiala goal that counts both the chairman and vice-chairman of the 9/11 Commission among its supporters28Pages.org has grown increasingly convinced that a scandalously large number of House representatives have spurned the repeated and intriguing pleas of Jones, Lynch and Massie, choosing to remain in a state of willful ignorance where vital national security intelligence is concerned.
Arizonas Ann Kirkpatrick may be one of those incumbents inexplicably disinterested in reading a passage that Jones described as shocking and Massie said caused him to stop every couple of pages and try to rearrange my understanding of history.
To promote transparency and help create a full accounting of 28-pages readership on Capitol Hill, 28Pages.org has begun asking every incumbent representative and senator two simple questions:
Have you read the 28 pages?
If not, have you requested permission from your intelligence committee to do so?
