Car Trips With Wingnuts (subtitled, What I Learned Today)

1. Ann Romney is the shining example of a housewife because she was able to manage so many nannies and groundskeepers. She was a super mom and a veritable project manager, all at the same time.

2. Michele Obama is a horrifying racist shrew who hates all white people by default and is determined to off them, what with her communistic dietary restrictions that are going to starve children.

3. Marijuana may START as a plant, but they TURN it into a chemical. (You mean by growing it and then drying it like basil?) No, and it is much better for society to take pharmaceutical drugs that are developed for things (er, aren't those chemicals to begin with?) Yes, but they are LEGAL and created naturally, like basil.

Shit on a stick.

I have never felt the need to jump from a moving vehicle before, but I get it now.

I just got back from having a beer with the sane ones in my family where we ranted for another 3 - so it almost evens out.

Good times.

(Edit - just saw you asked 'how' not 'how long'. How = family funeral)

Obama is a Muslim/Communist/radical bent on destroying the U.S. Michelle is a radical who who hates whites. The Democratic Party wants everyone in the country dependent on the government so they can buy more votes. Women in general are anti-American because they supported Obama in 2008. I am a terrible parent because my 24 year-old dautghter is an Obama campaign volunteer.

I am not at all happy with my smoking habit but it at least gave me some excuses to go outside and calm myself so I wouldn't go off on them and tell them how narrow-minded they really are.

This was after we agreed ahead of time that there would be no politics.

Glad you didn't jump from a moving vehicle!

Shit on a stick. - Yes, Ruby!

My daughter and I are very close. We just consider the sources, sigh and move on. A few hours of it a couple times a year won't kill us. We usually end up laughing about these conversations. If I really took these people seriously it would be a different story.

Exactly, the Democrats want more people dependent on government to get votes. What a difficult way to get votes.

The bigger plan is the one for a one world government which is a dictatorship of communists - the basis for that is global warming and environmentalism. What a cumbersome way of trying to take over the world - starting scientific based myths and trying to get everyone to believe them! The right wing certainly is not swallowing that one whole!!

any stupid statement go without a response.

The other day a spoiled right wing 24 year old kid, sent
and email about a person who got arrested, and then
used an EBT card (food stamps) to post bail. He mentioned
that there should be tighter restrictions on the use of EBT
cards.

So I responded "I see; you want tighter restriction on EBT
cards, but you want the banking industry unregulated.
Which do you think cost us more?"

No response.

This happened some time back.

He's a 24 year old spoiled kid, has a high powered
attorney for a father, and attended private schools
his whole life. So he doesn't believe in public schools.

He thinks that the banking industry collapse was due
to too much banking regulation, and that when Obama
was elected, his father started to hide his income to
keep from being taxed at a higher rate.

I was pulling out what little hair I have left.

Couldn't find anything. Google appears taken over by the right wing - the whole first page just had right wing sites touting the story.

For another debate I googled, "black support of Obama" and got nothing but articles on "Obama losing black support."

to his two best friends to build solar panels and generators? That's the fight I had with a seriously-brainwashed family member this week. On a three-way phone call with one very old lady and another in her eighties. Me and the very old lady won that one.

Oh, and I, too, heard mention of not appreciating being told what to eat...this coming from a diabetic...heh heh.

But it isn't actually cause if you do it often enough, they'll eventually absorb some of what you try to tell them and either start believing you or start lying to you outright cause they're afraid of the sense you make. Out of the side of her mouth, my ornery kin will tell me that she really does like having Obama as our leader (I know that she did actually vote for him) and she thinks Michelle is "so nice looking". But then the digs begin...without fail.

I sympathize. I have wingnuts in my family, too. Getting trapped in a car with them is enough to drive a person to drink. Hell, the last time I got trapped with them I DID drink just to keep from going ballistic. I have a very hard time these days listening to bullshit and not responding. Okay, I've never been good at listening to bullshit and not responding, and the ability has not improved with age.

The annual Christmas Party thrown by my husband's firm before he retired. It was kind of mandatory to attend. There were never a finer bunch of wing nuts and misinformed people on the face of this earth and they were all professionals. The only problem is they knew only what their profession was about and nothing else. I was usually well lit by the time we arrived and I kept up the glow until we could politely leave. My poor hubby had to deal with those morons every day. My heart went out to him.

that I don't have any family members like that. I have one cousin that can be a little annoying at times, but he's really not too bad and he'll shut up after a few minutes.

My husband tries to play the hard ass republican--cause he was a repub when I married him a moderate one--he doesn't do a very good job though.

Glad you're home safe. Sorry for the circumstances.
