Peyton Manning Infers Pizza Business Is 'Good' in Colorado Due to Legalization

In a recent sit-down with Sports Illustrated's Peter King, Peyton Manning more or less admitted that Colorado’s decision to legalize marijuana has been a huge boon for his pizza stores.

Weeks before the state passed a legalization amendment in 2012, the Broncos quarterback began snapping up Papa John’s franchises in the Denver area. The move prompted even the most casual observer to deduce that Peyton, a wily old fox, had bought the stores to capitalize on the impending munchies boom that would sweep the state.(snip)

You try to know who you’re voting for…I’ve gotten to know some of the folks here in Colorado. There’s some different laws out here in Colorado. Pizza business is pretty good out here, believe it or not, due to some recent law changes. So when you come to a different place, you’ve kind of got to learn everything that comes with it.

So, is Manning pro-‘Dro? Certainly he’d never personally conspire with the devil’s cabbage, but judging by the soaring sales his stores have experienced, he’s probably not against it.

After all, as TMZ noted in 2013, the 21 Papa John’s stores owned by Manning raked in record sales in the post-legalization period, registering a 25 percent profit increase at one location.

Apparently weed does not promote good taste.

Pot smokers eating dog crap pizza and lining the pockets of a couple of red-neck millionaires.

My experience with Colorado is a generally younger population that does not prefer "fast-foods" - a more health conscience population. The state is growing fast... thus the "increase" in consumers. Correlating "weed" smokers to increasing pizza sales is just plain stupid.

I find no fault in his strategy. If he had not bought those franchises, someone else would have been capitalizing on the situation. Him and his advisors appear to be pretty shrewd without taking advantage of anyone.

First off... There are dispensaries fucking everywhere in Denver... We have more (way more) dispensaries then Starbucks. Second, there are a shitload of freakin awesome mom and pop shops that have finally stopped my taste buds from crying (as they have since I left the NY area and stopped being able to get a decent slice) they are so good. We stoners out here do not order that shitty 'pizza', nor do we have to. Third, you don't go to a dispensary, get high and go get a slice... It's like going to the fucking liqueur store, you don't drink there for fucks sake... You go home. I don't know what people think but there has not been some epidemic of people smoking in public out here, I never see anyone smoking weed in public (unless they are on their property).

Manning is a fucking moron.

You will be asked for a picture ID, everyone is... An out of state ID is fine as long as you are over 21. Follow the same rules you would with alcohol and you will be fine... Be aware that once you leave the state, the laws of the state you enter go into effect and you no longer have a legal product. It's really mostly common sense but take a few minutes and know:

There are many fine dispensaries to go to and many have very knowledgeable staff... It's great to chat with them, they can steer you towards a strain that will work well with whatever you are going to do when high. I often have several strains on hand, one for when I'm gaming, another for when I have insomnia, another for more intimate times... It is actually pretty amazing how different strains will work better or worse for the given activity (or varying degrees on non-activity). This should help you find a dispensary near where you will be, many to choose from:

I hope you enjoy your stay, I've really grown to love it here.

I'm already going to be there during the Great American Beer Festival (which is like Christmas for beer connoisseurs like me ) so having access to a dispensary on 16th street will be sweet!

is that they simply don't know any better. I used to be satisfied with Papa John's type pizza before I moved from WA to NY, and I understand that you need to be exposed often enough to quality to be able to disdain the ordinary. At least both CO and WA have really great craft beer.

I guess even Papa John's pizza is OK if you're wasted, but I'd prefer to have real NY pizza when I load the bong.
