it didn't cause ,,, for anyone with a mind, but his reasoning works on those he targets.

They don't hear it and determine its validity. If he said bowling alleys are in worse condition than they were 20 years ago, some people would believe him without question. Others might know that he has never bowled or set foot in a bowling alley. Its those that believe him who are totally convinced and nothing will change their minds.
