Michael Moore question for the masses

Does a man who lives in this house really need to dress like this? Does he dress down to cater to the "regular" folks? Is he really one of "us"?

Is what Michael Moore does any different than what the Robertson family does. After all they once looked like this and now look way different.

They have a net worth of $500 million and live in homes like this.

Isn't this all a charade?

I've dressed the same all my life, and my income has fluctuated by $60k.

Are we all supposed to get "rich" clothes once our income reaches a certain level?

I feel stupider for having read this.

I do not think he is putting on a big act like the duck people. He always looked like that. LOL

As for the house, he earned it.

As for if he's "one of us" (I do enjoy simplistic, meaningless bumper-stickers), you should ask him.

First I don't hate Michael Moore, secondly I don't view the question as stupid in so far as so many on the left see him as a hero and I'm trying to understand him. Thirdly I asked the question out of genuine curiosity, there is no need to be insulting.

It's funny how many right wing talking points one finds on the New and Improved DU.

Not funny-haha but funny-roll-the-eyes.

...but hes awesome! I think he was very errant in playing a right-wing meme and a "racist" one if even unintentionally (hey, weve all been there!)

Its pro-forma for whites to reduce the performance and achievements of blacks as based solely on race(its quotas)

Likewise with the use of tokenism, which whites can variously use to innoculate themselves against charges of racism ( we elected a black , see!) while also impugning blacks ( he will only be remembered for being first black president) .

And I certainly wouldn't call you 'naive'. If anything, your posting shows the opposite - you're not simply accepting things as they seem. Instead, you're actively seeking for some sort of underhandedness on the part of someone you appear to not like.

Again, you're free not to like MM. You're free to hate him. You're even free to make posts such as this one. But...

You'll look less foolish when you do, if you provide some scrap of evidence for your assertions, rather than just tossing out innuendo. As I said in my comment on the OP, if you actually had evidence that MM routinely dressed 'better' in the past, then you might actually have some grounds to think that his current mode of dress is a 'costume' of sorts.

Or is he eating foods associated with poverty just to put on a show and make us think he is one of us? Me personally I would be eating beans and rice even if I was in the muthafuckin White House because that shit is mighty tasty.

Do you have any proof at all that he looked any different before he made his money?

Is there any reason for him to 'dress up' to meet your expectations of what 'rich people' should wear?

Aren't there plenty of rich sports figures or other celebrities who likewise don't 'dress up' except for specific occasions?

I've never been 'rich', but I've been well above the poverty line, and well below the poverty line, and how I dressed didn't actually change from one circumstance to the other.
