A new report revealed that both Ron Paul and Michele Bachmann are under federal investigation related to numerous potential crimes that were committed during their 2012 presidential campaigns.
OpenSecrets reported,
OpenSecrets Blog has learned that FBI agents have been interviewing a slew of witnesses connected to Ron Pauls presidential campaign and grand jury subpoenas have been issued for email records from campaign officials. And in addition to payments to a Maryland video company that were routed to Sorenson in exchange for his endorsement, OpenSecrets has identified an additional suspicious payment by Pauls campaign that may be linked to a $25,000 check to Sorenson from a jewelry store connected to a Paul operative.
Sources say two grand juries are looking into the 2012 campaigns of Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), whom Sorenson originally endorsed, and Paul, to whom Sorenson switched his support just days before the Iowa caucuses. A number of individuals confirmed to OpenSecrets Blog that they had been interviewed by FBI agents, the grand juries, or both.
.
The subpoena lists several possible crimes being investigated including false reporting of campaign finance data by federal campaign committees, false statements to the FEC, obstruction of justice and concealing a federal crime.
http://www.opensecrets.org/news/2014/09/two-grand-juries-continuing-probe-into-2012-iowa-payola-scandal/
This is the same scandal that already took down Mitch McConnells former campaign manager, and Ron Pauls grandson in law, Jesse Benton. There are currently two federal grand juries investigating Bachmann and Paul on top of the previously known FBI investigation of Bachmann. The bribery scandal could go much deeper than first reported. The scandal has already impacted the 2014 Kentucky Senate race and could devastate Rand Pauls 2016 presidential campaign. Sen. Paul was going to be using the campaign structure that his father had put into place during his two previous bids for the Republican nomination.

(81,565 posts)If there's anything to read from little rand paul, it's an ego the size of the planet Jupiter. He OBVIOUSLY thinks he's not only presidential material but the savior of the entire republi-CON party. How many times has he talked about how HE is the way, the truth, and the light toward wooing back some of the very demographic groups that view the GOP as having about the same desirability as the Ebola virus?
And something else is at play here, too, with rand paul. We've seen the template already. Twice. george w bush and john mccain. Two Oedipus Complexes on legs. Two others chafing under the legacy of VERY accomplished fathers and also grandfathers. We know about the bushes. mccain's father and grandfather were both admirals. Each of these dudes has exhibited a glaring need to top the Alpha males in their families and assert their own dominance and supremacy. Each of these dudes has exhibited behavior that shows them attempting to best their fathers' legacies and accomplishments and "places in history." Hey, if your dad and grandpa were admirals, how do you top that? Well, go for the White House! Hey, if your grandpa was a senator and your dad got turned out of the White House after only one term, why not prove how a bush CAN, TOO, get a second term! Hey who's yer daddy NOW???? Show 'em how it's done, son!
And with little rand paul - his dad is the Harold Stassen of latter-day politics. A SERIES of runs for the White House, always a bridesmaid but never the bride, always with a little cult following off on the sidelines but never enough to get across the finish line. Turning into something of a national joke after awhile: "Oh, right. HIM again. Still working at it, pal?" How Alpha Male would it be within the paul family when sonny-boy goes all the way, like dad just somehow never could? If the son bests his father on such a huge national platform - either somehow "avenging" his father's broken dreams or showing daddy how it's done? Hey, family, WHO'S YER DADDY NOW????
I think we can't dismiss this ingredient in the rand paul recipe. I think we ignore it at our peril. It's part of him. It's in his blood, and in his own life history, growing up watching his dad's career. He's GONNA run. He's GONNA go for it. His ego won't let him NOT do it. Because he, too, has something to prove, both to his own insular family and to his political party and to the entire nation. He's just another little kid in the bathroom with Daddy, yearning to prove his whiskers are longer and thicker and his dick is bigger.

HAH! I forgot all about little mittski. But yes. You're spot on. He, too, has something to prove up against a VERY accomplished father. They've just GOTTA assert their Alpha Male in the family, these poor pathetic guys. Sheesh - they're all supposedly grown men and yet they walk around with this ball and chain dragging behind them from which they won't break away. I'm with you, Amethyst Ring. I have NO time or patience whatsoever with these aging sonny-boys who still have such hard-ons for family supremacy. Shows you how flawed and basically unstable a bunch of little bitty weenies they really are, deep down inside, just aching to get in the old man's face and declare "mine's BIGGER!" And they aren't even ashamed of themselves!
And as such, they have NO business anywhere near the levers of power for the sake of OUR safety and stability.

They can spout their religious drivel all they want to, we KNOW who they are. Is Marcus still trying to convert young men from homosexuality? What a scam. It didn't work for him, why would it work on anyone else?I guess now he will have to find a legitimate job.

(44,583 posts)Uh-huh -- it's Ron Paul's fault that Michele doesn't know how to take a hint.
Sorenson either wanted more money or decided to jump off a sinking ship. And since Bachmann neither offered a raise nor fired him, he didn't even do her the courtesy of handing in a resignation -- which reflects as poorly upon her leadership skills as it does upon his character.
(link)
And I guess it's going to reflect badly on Sorenson's business sense, too. If he HAD turned in a resignation, he could have claimed that he was simply "hired" by the Paul camp -- I KNEW this would come back to haunt him!
