...a story driven by and milked to death by the cables from various perspectives. This is an ideal corporate media story...has all sorts of hot buttons to push on (race, murder, gun control) and since it is so controversial it's drawn eyeballs and ratings; something the cables desperately need. No network needs it more than Chicken Noodle Nuze that's try to own this thing but the others have hopped on as well. The corporate media hates a void...thus it fills in the lack of real facts with speculation and that's what's really given this story legs.

Some blame can be pointed at the local and county police and politicians who have bungled this issue and are almost catatonic based on the draconian and confusing laws. If anything, this case is demonstrating how "effed up" the laws are that are so ambiguous that a murderer can make the police look like fools and the corporate media run roughshod over facts to try to "outscoop" the other guy. The truth and justice never has a chance...

People expect McDonalds speed for everything. Prosecutorial rush jobs result in prosecutorial failure, particularly in cases which require an actual case be made. The media is going to do what they are going to do...too bad the public allows the media to work them up into a lather.
