suddenly turned around and ran towards the man with a gun trying to kill him? Yeah, right. A billion or more to one that is what happened. Have a sane day.

(1,284 posts)Who are you to question that, civilian?

(47,953 posts)Or was it some anonymous or self-identified 'friend' who wait that? Because I haven't seen an official report on the incident that contains anything but blank spaces.
Not criticizing your post. I just feel like the actual verifiable facts are pretty slim right now, and the ones that we can be certain of aren't flattering to the cop.

(16,076 posts)Let us know! Because the one released by the Ferguson PD was so redacted that any useful information was blacked out...and the report released by St Louis County PD wasn't any better...you could put more information on the back of a postage stamp!

(1,284 posts)But that hasn't been verified.
Not sure about anything else.
There's a LOT of misinformation out there regarding the cop's side of the story.
The only consistency has been on the side of those who witnessed Brown's death.

(47,953 posts)Absolutely no credibility whatsoever then. I could make up a story about how Rand Paul was in the area and shot Brown, which would be just as credible.

(68,644 posts)Agree, no credibility, but I wouldn't call her self-identified.
He pulled up ahead of them. And then he got a call-in that there was a strong-arm robbery. And, they gave a description. And, hes looking at them and they got something in their hands and it looks like it could be what, you know those cigars or whatever. So he goes in reverse back to them. Tries to get out of his car. They slam his door shut violently. I think he said Michael did. And, then he opened the car again. He tried to get out. He stands up.
And then Michael just bum-rushes him and shoves him back into his car. Punches him in the face and them Darren grabs for his gun. Michael grabbed for the gun. At one point he got the gun entirely turned against his hip. And he shoves it away. And the gun goes off.
Well, then Michael takes off and gets to be about 35 feet away. And, Darrens first protocol is to pursue. So, he stands up and yells, Freeze! Michael and his friend turn around. And Michael taunts him And then all the sudden he just started bumrushing him. He just started coming at him full speed. And, so he just started shooting. And, he just kept coming. And, so he really thinks he was on something.

The video is longer than the above excerpt. Here you go:

(68,644 posts)It doesn't even qualify as hearsay, it's more like "someone told me that someone told them...".
Of course, all of this has been taken as fact by the press.
Further, the media still tells of a "strong arm robbery", but the video evidence suggests that Mike paid for his Cigarillos.
In this longer video, you see the same thing- it appears that he had grabbed more than he could afford, hands some to his friend and then pays for what he can, might even have dropped some change.
The apparent exchange with the smaller older gentleman at the door is unexplained, but I'm unconvinced that anything was stolen here.

(14,040 posts)However, here's what I think happened... Brown was running for his life, then decides to stop and turn around, throwing his hands in the air. Wilson, perceived and later convinced himself that Brown wasn't surrendering but rushing him. That said, doesn't the "bum rush" bit come from the now debunked "Josie" story?

Of course, what matters in the end is that he is dead, and poor people and people of color get to see who their real friends were.

(12,310 posts)Not only did he charge the officer, but before that he tried to get into the police car and arrest himself.
Don't forget. They claimed Trayvon did the same thing. After running for his life he decided to double back and ambush Zimmerman.

(52,589 posts)But I think in logic. Certainly not in fear or racial stereotypes. And to tell you the truth, I'm tired. I'm at a point where I think this country is useless in the 21st century and we all have to endure it's ignorance, racism, and the rise of 1% rule. But I decided I'm not going to sit on my ass. I'll offer my services to a movement for change. Silent no more. There are no more chances.

(18,124 posts)yet I agree the problems of racism and bigotry of all sorts, from everyone, along with the sanctioned killing going on continuously in the streets of amerikkka has to be addressed and solved by the people who have america and it's citizens best interest in mind. Not the wilson crowd, not the zimmerman crowd but decent, fair and impartial human beings from all walks of life, not limbaugh and fux news robots. We must start a movement to bring people together to end this insanity.

(65,616 posts)and that is not just America...the world doesn't need us or anything else to survive. So sick of people pretending the world is going to end, just because of humans.
Not even close.

(15,715 posts)It used to be that we were kind of the moral compass in the world, not so much any more.
I look at Iraq, they would have been a lot better if the good ol USA did not exist, think about Palestine. Really any where. I think if the gold ol U.S.A. wasn't around, the world would have probably settled down to a nice stable place.
Just a rant from someone who is just pissed off at all the pain and suffering that this one country has caused.

(65,616 posts)Just seems people think we are the end all, be all of everything.
So far in geological time, we are merely a fart in the wind of the world.

(25,026 posts)mass extinctions, and any number of life and even planet threatening debacles and pretending otherwise is the same vein as the climate deniers. We are a danger well beyond ourselves.

(65,616 posts)We are a mere fart in geological time, to pretend we can destroy the earth is poppycock. Oh sure WE can destroy OURSELVES...and some pretend that is all there is to it. AS IF the universe is going to stop when we stop existing.
The earth is billions of years old...nothing is going to destroy the planet, but we most assuredly can destroy THIS biosphere. The one we depend on for all life as we know it.
TheKentuckian
(25,026 posts)I notice now you have left Earth and expanded to the universe and yes that is beyond or reach or reckoning but with a concerted effort I bet we could take out the sun and yes we could sterilize this little blue marble to the point that no complex organism could evolve before Earth is no longer in the habitable zone and might be consumed by Sol.

(65,616 posts)We still have eons left...no need to panic just yet well MAYBE we could cause the planet to become a tundra or a barren planet, I guess I should not underestimate our ability to fuck up a good thing.
For all that I read, it is already too late...and I keep seeing that data ignored year after year after year. All kinds of excuses made, year after year...I guess I've grown jaded toward hope and prosperity.
I just don't see it, we seem to be stuck on greed mode.

Are we supposed to believe the kid reached into the window and tried to grab a holstered gun?

(68,644 posts)Mike and friend were walking in the street, not on the sidewalk. A lot of us do that, usually it's not a problem.
Wilson stopped and shouted out an order, then drove on.
Mike and friend didn't go to the sidewalk, Wilson stopped his SUV and quickly went back to the young men, tires squealing.
Some conversation was had at the door between the men and Wilson.
I believe that physical contact occurred between Brown and Wilson through the vehicle's window, and I further believe that Wilson violently pushed the door open into Mike Brown in anger.
I think the door came back and bonked Wilson in the head and that set him off.
The men wanted to get away from Wilson, Wilson fired several shots at Brown, some missed.
One or more shots hit Brown and he stopped, turned around, hands up, and might even have taken a few steps in the direction of Wilson.
Wilson, now even crazier than usual, chose to react by emptying his magazine into Brown, including a fatal shot to the head.
And then all the local agencies went into coverup mode.
They are still in that mode.
