How talented are Kim Kardashian and Beyonce?

Just from my untrained eye, neither seems to be very talented. However, they are very sexual. And they promote and sell sex. Their butts and legs are the envy of women around the world. Little girls want to be like Kim and Beyonce. They see men that worship their looks. Is America really this stupid?

I must confess that I enjoy looking, although I see little redeeming quality in promoting these mental giants.

I can see the talent shine through in Beyonce--even though her act is not really my "cup of tea"... I really like those singers whose voice is the highlight--with range and ability to "belt out" once in a while. Beyonce's forte' seems more toward the "performance" side and her singing voice is rather limited with most of her songs sounding "spoken" rather than sung, but that's fine....She clearly entertains her fans.

Kim Kardashian, on the other hand--bleh. a self-entitled, superficial "celebrity" for no apparent reason.

Mariah Carey and Whitney were in a different league, vocally. Christina too, though she came in the 2000s.

The female vocalists back then were effortlessly sexy. They didn't hide their sexiness, yet they also didn't need sex to sell music. Their voices were truly divine and they put effort into writing music. I saw the latest Anaconda from Nicki Minaj, currently the biggest hit. Broke a Youtube record for hits on the first day IIRC. It looked like a softcore with some amateur remix of "Baby Got Back" going on in the background.

May sound oold saying this, but I miss vocal quality.

I'm not a Beyonce' fan myself, but I also don't believe that because a certain type of music or art doesn't appeal to my tastes, the creator of that music or art isn't talented. A little bit of research reveals that Beyonce' as a solo artist had her first number one album in 2003 and over a period of ten years, every album she's released has topped the charts in the US and virtually all of them have been in the top ten around the world (Germany, Australia, Ireland, Canada, Netherlands, Switzerland, the UK, New Zealand -- so much for the stupid American audience argument). If you go back to her career as a member of Destiny's Child, her first top five album was in 1999 -- so she's been a successful recording artist for over 15 years. I don't think that makes her a "flash in the pan."

Beyonce became famous, due to her stage performances and singing. Kardashian is famous, because of reality TV...without it we would have no idea who Kim K is.

Beyonce on the other hand, has platinum album after platinum album.

I would say Beyonce is more talented than Kim Kardashian. Beyonce is a better performer than a singer. Last night's performance was boring, in my opinion, but normally Beyonce seems to be able to put on a good performance. Her Super Bowl halftime show was a good performance. By good performance I mean she has good to decent dance numbers.

Kim Kardashian on the other hand seems to have very little talent, if any. She is mainly famous for a sex tape, a reality TV show, and good looks.

I gave up before grunge hit the scene. I thought grunge was awful and Weird Al's parody of "Smells like Teen Spirit" expresses my feelings.

The contemporary person I have seen that impresses me with her talent is Lady Gaga. She has a beautiful voice and is talented. I don't get the strange costumes, but that's ok. She empowers her audiences (little monsters) and tells them they are OK the way they are, and that's important, as in "Born This Way". She's keeping a lot of kids, especially with regards to their sexuality, from killing themselves. She is a far better singer than Madonna ever thought about being.

Adele has a good voice but her songs seem to be the same chords: I - IV, I-IV. One-four. That would be C to F to C to F, in the key of C major. I'm saying this from hearing "Skyfall" and "We could have had it all".

They have pretty faces but they really don't do much for me, whether through their talent or their looks. But then I'm 64 and over the hill as far as modern celebrities are concerned. Of course I'd be lucky if either one of them gave me 30 seconds of their time. I'm still waiting for classy celebrities in the mold of Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, or the impossibly charming, beautiful, poised, charismatic, and talented Ronnie Spector (aka Veronica Bennett) to come along and rev my motor.
