Here is the Huffington Post headline as I viewed it:

U.S. Creates 209,000 Jobs In July, Unemployment Rate Rises To 6.2%

What is wrong with it? Granted its just 0.1 percentage points -- statistical noise mostly as most of the monthly changes are.

The two key statistics of the BLS's monthly jobs report that just about everyone is looking for is the payroll jobs number and the unemployment rate, and particularly the change of these numbers over the past month. What should they have said?

Maybe "edges up" would be better than "rises".

Not that it was unexpected -- the unemployment rate has fallen in the last several months thru June at a pace that is faster than would be expected from the change in jobs / employment numbers (e.g. from 7.5% in June 2013 to 6.1% in June 2014), so a bit of a bounce up in July was expected (or at least not surprising) in this statistically-noisy data series. I'm glad it wasn't a bigger bounce up.
