It is not my job to stroke the egos of bible/gun/white privilege/misogynists...

It is not my job to tell some gun person or bible person or white guy who thinks he isn't privileged or a misogynist that they are OK, or that I don't want to take away their guns or bibles or white privilege or hatred of Women, that is not my job or purpose in life. It is the job of the politician I elect and pay, you elect and pay.

It is the politicians job to tell you she or he will protect those things which you hold dear while you vote in your best interest for the Democratic candidate.

My job is to talk as loudly and as often as I can about the ills of all of these things, to the best of my knowledge and to try and live my life accordingly.

So if I am not tolerant of a hypocritical religious person or a gun person or a white guy whining about how the Blacks get all the breaks or another guy whining about Women not being able to take a joke, then so be it, because I wont be tolerant of that.

It is the politicians job to stroke your ego and talk sweetly to you to make sure you still vote the right way.

thank you...that is all for now...

To clarify, I am not compiling all 4 of these types of people into one, these are 4 separate categories, but hey, you may fit into more than one as well.

gets to tell you what your job is.

I post here for free, and thus don't think of it as a job.

But there is some purpose to what I do, at least I am trying for certain things (and seemingly failing miserably for whatever reason).

So you have taken as your stated purpose "to talk as loudly and as often as you can about the ills of all those things".

But that also seems more like a MEANS than an end. Are you trying to accomplish something by talking loudly and often? If so, then what?

I would suggest two basic goals, and two means of reaching those goals, that we can perhaps all agree on (except the trolls in our midst).

1. stopping conservative legislation
2. promoting progressive legislation

and three means for making those happen

1. Democrats retain control of the US Senate
2. Democrats take control of the US House
3. Democrats win at the State level too

I would submit that if your talking loudly and often ends up working against those five goals, then it is a bad idea.

You perhaps think those are all up to the candidates, but as a party activist, my purpose is to help those candidates, and considering the results in 2004, 2010, 2012, and so on, our candidates need ALL the help they can get.

I'd rather have a tent big enough to win elections, then a small, pure tent that gets its a$$ handed to it at the polls.

It is funny, when you speak out on a message board, sometimes you get this criticism:

"what are you doing other than speaking out on a message board?"

the list is too long for most of us, we do many things, whether it is to support gun victims through "not one more" social engagement and others, or like myself running a twitter feed dedicated to documenting voter suppression

https://twitter.com/DidTheyLetUVote

But when someone on DU asks you what are you doing, they dont really want to know, they want to criticize you, so from now on when I am asked that I will not respond.

I wont mention the donations to congressional races or the time spent working on the Obama campaign, because when someone asks you that question they arent interested in the answer.

42!

Hope your job pays well!

How about those Brooklyn Dodgers think they will take the pennant this year?

Obviously you like posts that ramble and make little sense.
