(14,177 posts)Newty wants power, he knows he can't win the GE that is a fact. Rmoney can't win either. But, Newty knows that Santorum despite his racism(or because of it, hard to say with moonbats) and despite the fact that Santorum is openly anti-women, that he is more likeable that Rmoney and could be honed to streamline a message of jobs and economic growth even though we all know all Santorum wants to do is foist social experiments on the nation. Anywho, I think that is what Newty is banking on, that he could control Santorum and get his message back onto the tea bagger platform of lower taxes and economic growth even though it's all bunkum.

(15,381 posts)Newt needs to satiate his ego more than anything. Newt honestly thinks he's better than anyone in the world and that the rules shouldn't apply to people like him - thus that one quote when one of his wives got onto him his hypocrisy over his affairs and still going before conservative family organizations to get their support: It doesn't matter what I do, but people NEED to hear what I have to say (or something like that). He never should have been ousted from power in the House for the things he did wrong - he's above right or wrong, and winning the presidency would show all his detractors and the people who worked against him that and allow him to go out on a high note, redeemed.

If we are lucky they go together, beat Mitt, and we have a Santorum, Gingrich ticket for the republican party! Now that would be a blessing from heaven for president Obama!
No matter what these two clowns do, it will be Romney as the nominee, and it will be Romney that loses to president Obama in November, and it will be Romeny that fades away never to run again, and that's what the GOP wants. The republicans know they can't win, so they want the least looney of the bunch as the nominee, and that's Romeny. If Santorum or Newt did win, it would make them look far, far worse than having Romey win, which will also make them look bad, but not as bad as the other two!
2016 is the year the republicans are waiting for, when things are better, and they hope that people have that Bush got us into this mess and Obama had to get us out. They will run their A team of clowns then, this year is the D team of clowns, and they will hope the democrats don't have good candidate. Of course if they keep on going down the road they have been these last four years, it won't matter who they have to run, the american people will have figured them out by then!
