Flat on my back after disc surgery, so I'm doing what I normally don't do - watch TV. Turned over to Fox News just out of morbid curiosity. In the space of 15 minutes, I saw 3 commercials: 1) reverse mortgage for seniors, 2) a company that will help you not pay the IRS what you owe, and 3) Viagra. Man, if that's not the trifecta of Fox News viewer stereotypes I don't know what is. A bunch of old, limp deadbeats.

(904 posts)...can speak VOLUMES about that particular media outlet, whether TV, Radio, or Internet.
To wit - take a look at some of the conservative web sites. I've found that some of the biggest names in Corporate America advertise at those sites - McDonald's and WalMart come to mind. And while I've seen a few big name advertisers on the "lefty" blogs, the further to the left the blogs are, the less likely you'll see a big corporate advertiser gracing their pages.

Who watches Fox news?...Older people who may be in some tax trouble and who, by virtue of their age, probably experience erectile dysfunction in a larger percentage than the population at large - and who are enjoying the fact that most insurance will cover ED drugs.

(5,364 posts)While we'd have a field day with outlets like fox news, it's nonetheless very noticeable on some of the History Channel spinoffs like 'The Military Channel' or 'Military History Channel' as they seem to target a similar demographic as fox. All of the advertising seem to be aimed at hawk-ish 'USA! USA! USA! flag wavers, and products/services that deal with issues of aging. Blatantly obvious.

(595 posts)I saw several commercials about buying gold and silver and one commercial about investing that said they never lose a client money. I couldn't believe how cheesey the commercials were.
