The new "don't say gay" teacher contract in Cincinnati Catholic schools could cost educators their jobs if they attend a gay family member's wedding or share kind words with a bullied student.
The Archdiocese of Cincinnati just distributed a new 2014 teacher contract that not only bans teachers from leading a "homosexual lifestyle" or living with a partner outside of marriage, but prohibits "public support" for any position contradicting official church policies -- including on social media or personal blogs.
Let's show the archbishop that there's a growing national outcry calling for the church to start living up to Pope Francis's call for a new tone.

(14,449 posts)Catholic School teachers make about 30 thousand to start if they are lucky. Public school teachers start at 45 thousand and don't have to put up with this crap. Why any teacher would want to work for "prayers and holy cards" is beyond me ..

(6,795 posts)They do it because they valued their Catholic education, it means something to them and they feel like they are making a difference in the world. The money isn't the issue with them.
BUT, I doubt many would agree with this BS.

(14,449 posts)Seriously if they are happy good on them, but what is happening in this particular diocese is ridiculous. I did go to Catholic School my entire K-12 years and do not regret it, but stuff like this never happened when I went......graduated in 1987.

(6,795 posts)This stuff never happened while I went to school either. As a matter of fact, one of my best friends while going to Catholic school was a lesbian. Nobody, either student or faculty, ever said anything about it.

(67,112 posts)LGBT gives them a target under the banner of a church to practice their hatred and persecution. Some just gotta have something to hate, it's how they get their jollies, and for some it's oneupmanship. All, very sick individuals in positions of power they should be nowhere near.

(67,112 posts)perpetuate these attitudes and feelings. My hope is with the Millennials. I think many youth of today are fed up with these archaic institutions.
I felt that way decades ago, and I'm pleased to see youth coming along that are fed up too. The hatred and persecution by some of these institutions exits for unfounded reasons, for them, it's just the thing to do, no brain involved, no rationale thought, just doing as a reflex action.

Rep.: Impeach judge who will overturn gay marriage ban
Chrissie Thompson, [email protected]
A Clermont County state representative reiterated his call for the impeachment of federal Judge Timothy Black, after Black on Friday said he plans to overturn Ohio's ban on recognizing same-sex marriages conducted in other states.
"In an epic display of arrogance and incompetence, Judge Black announced that he will require the people of Ohio to disregard the Ohio Constitution and force the recognition of 'homosexual marriages' performed outside of Ohio," state Rep. John Becker's office said a statement. "He persists in allowing his personal political bias to supersede jurisprudence."...
...Becker first called for Black's impeachment after the U.S. District Court judge ruled last year that Ohio must recognize the out-of-state marriage of an Over-the-Rhine couple on a death certificate. James Obergefell wanted to be listed on the certificate as the spouse of John Arthur after Arthur died last year of ALS. The couple had been married in Maryland weeks earlier...
...Becker has introduced a resolution in the Ohio House that would call on the House of Representatives to begin impeachment proceedings against Black. The measure has not yet received a hearing in a House committee, and even if it passed, it would not have the power to require any action from Congress.... MORE
