This is the funniest and most aggressive I've seen Warren.
"If Ted Cruz were around when the Declaration of Independence was passed he would have tried to repeal it because Jefferson was a Democrat."
"That may be Paul Ryan's vision of how America works, but that is not our vision of this great country," she said.

(14,449 posts)The House is insulated and could care less what a Senator says. The folks who should be speaking out to Paul Ryan are the House members specifically the Democrats who are pretty quiet on Ryan.

(7 posts)The "no strings attached bank bail out" could not have happened without the cooperation and support of the Democrats that controlled both the House and the Senate at the time. Unfortunately no matter how much I would like to you can't blame it all on the repubs. Her arguments and debating skills are strong enough on their own without having to misrepresent or embellish facts.

(1,245 posts)Dems definitely do bear some blame for the bailout, you are correct on that. However, no Repub would hesitate to make a similar claim to Warren's if the shoe was on the other foot (for reference: Benghazi, when the Repubs in the House refused to release funds to beef up Embassy security), so ... I say F 'em. Tired of being the 'nice guys' when the opposition has ZERO regard for facts or truth. Time for hardball.

They know they're being lied to by Cruz, Christie, Romney and Rove, so I wonder how they feel about Warren?

BrotherIvan
(9,126 posts)She could run on an economic platform of JOBS and healing our economy. The die hard nutters may worry about her ancestry, but I don't know how anyone could refute that this country needs jobs. And since the Rs haven't done shit in their tenure, she could run circles around them. They could run on God & guns, but Independents might listen.
But I have no doubt the national Democratic party wants no part of her. They would have to change their Third Way course and that ain't gonna happen.

(8,200 posts)Believe me that it is impossible to cut through the wall of ignorance that they have been encased in. No amount of logic can make a dent in the armor. The threat to their very wellbeing by the Republican agenda that includes privatization of Social Security, destruction of Medicare with a voucher system and of course repeal of the ACA along with massive cuts to safety net social programs and repeal of minimum wage laws doesn't daunt their fossilized brains. I can only say good luck to our younger people. Unless people wakeup damn soon their future looks mighty bleak.

(9,126 posts)Is that there are some who refuse to see reason. Maybe Democrats should just figure out what percentage that is and say, we don't pander for their votes. It seems it is impossible with the current electoral makeup for a hard right republican to win. So as long as Democrats start acting like Democrats, they'll win all those independents and moderate right who are appalled by the right wing clown car. And yet, the third way does their best to make something so simple very complicated in order to obscure that their agenda is the same as the Republicans. That's where the problem lies.

(8,200 posts)The young people's future is in jeopardy. Anyone who looks at Ryan's budget should be scared to death unless they are in the upper 10%.

(1,855 posts)My working class, tea bagging facebook friends don't see that her message is to benefit the working class, they see her as a communist.
BrotherIvan
(9,126 posts)She is doing a great job of talking about middle class (which is actually lower middle class than it ever was) people trying to make it through the day. It seems that unless someone is a religious zealot, the message of supporting the "job creators" by the Republicans is a losing one. Most everyone hates their boss and most everyone, even in the higher income brackets that I know is not doing well financially.
But like I said, I live in California, so we are not steeped in RW radio and nonsensical hate 24/7 if we don't want to be. All my visits to the south have been rather eye opening, especially flipping on the radio. Love the food and some of the people, but man, there is some whacky shit going on down there.

(12,545 posts)is always a treat. He's in way over his head with Elizabeth Warren. Has anyone ever asked for his curriculum vitae regarding economics? We need to draft this woman for President in 2016. We don't need another corporatist in the White House. Now sure the Koch Bros will up the campaign stakes with the new SCOTUS ruling but as individuals we can overcome their big bucks. We really need this woman to run.Hillary no..too many billionaires would be wanting their financial backing payback..
