Watch the skies: Tonight and Monday

The crescent moon will slide between Jupiter and Venus, shortly after sunset. Here's more from Phil Plait's Bad Astronomy website:

Over the next couple of nights, especially Sunday and Monday (March 25 and 26), a very thin crescent Moon will move in between the incredibly bright beacons of Venus and Jupiter in the west right after sunset.

Here’s a map of what it’ll look like on March 25 around 9:00 p.m. local time:

They have been highly visible here in Alaska for weeks now. I hope to get out to see this tonight.

That will obviously be easy to spot, but this is a good excuse to crank up an augmented reality astronomy app on my new iPad and do some searching.

this show develop for the past month! With Arizona's clear skies, it's fun to take out my two telescopes at night to watch the slow-motion performance. I suspect the neighbors are getting tired of hearing cries from my back yard of: "Oh, I say, well-orbited Mars! Capital display, Ganymede!"
