It would be a lot funnier if people's civil rights weren't on the line, but even still, the level of humiliation that is going to be heaped upon those bigots is going to be fun to watch.

marriage as being up in the bedrooms of heteros. And at least one of those bans has been in place since the OT.

ETA: The ban on miscenagation was also supposedly biblically-mandated.

And I hope it spreads!

Last summer in Knoxville, TN, State Sen. Stacey Campfield, author of the "Don't Say Gay" bill, among other stupidities, ventured into a restaurant in Knoxville's Old Town to eat. The proprietor refused him service and asked him to leave. It made headlines in the city and poor dear Stacey-Boy was laughed at statewide. We need more of that!

who DO give a shit and who WILL do business there. And maybe that will encourage other businesses to do the same. The Monied Interests in Arizona have already urged Governor Brewer to veto the Bill. This is all going to go HORRIBLY wrong for the Republicans. Watch and see.

service "their kind."

Since there are so many Biblical references to Jesus welcoming the poor, the sick, the cast-out of his day, it is so easy under this idiotic law for any business owner (or individual business employee for that matter) to simply say,

"As a follower of the teachings of Jesus I cannot provide service to bigots,"

and be well within the stated theology of any major Christian denomination.

Find the restaurants in Phoenix where Congress-critters hang out. Urge them to take public anti-bigot stands as the Tuson pizza joint has done. Pressure them to only serve Democratic legislators.

And constantly remind the NFL that if they do not cancel the Arizona Super Bowl, they are making a huge and very public anti-LGBT statement. That is not the type of publicity the owners of that "not-for-profit" corporation are looking for at the moment.

Doesn't the Gospel say that if you are rich it is very unlikely you will go to Heaven? So, there could be a religious belief basis for it.

It's possible to interpret the verse to which you refer as "You can't take it with you," although I state candidly that not many agree with that interpretation.

How about - 'If you have a net worth of over 5 million dollars, you must verify your net worth and give the equivalent of 10% of it to one of our preferred charity before we serve you.'

Their could be a 'sincerely held' religious belief that would enable anyone to deny service to anyone else.

Should a bar owned by Irish Catholics be allowed to deny service to all Protestants?

The people behind such proposals aren't stupid - they know that it's their job to keep people riled up about nonsense and in ignorance of the real politics of the country, mostly redistribution of wealth from the poor to the rich.
