There is no way some one random reader is going to read this and just happen to see the missing kid.

It's a long shot but you do everything you can.
In addition, a lot of people seeing this message will pass it on. As the number of people increase as it is passed on even further, you can end up with a decent amount of people who know.

You don't get to decide what "we need at DU". If you don't like the thread then don't read it!

Disagree with you. I will add to this list every other state patrol and the FBI.

Wide dissemination is their main tool.

By the way, the Hannah Anderson case is a textbook example. It was never activated in the state she was found. News dissemination was the trick. It was shit like this, and social media as well. The hunters who found her said as much to local media. You might want to correct them in their experience.

There s a lot of crap these days I leave off DU thanks to people like you, or mostly off DU and reserve for other places. Amber Alerts is one thing I will not stop posting. If this is taking off too much bandwidth from your phone 600 baud modem (only explanation as to how the original OP took forever to load) perhaps you should first not open the thread. It is obviously of no interest to you. Once you did, oops, use the trash tool. I also suggest a universal thread can tool and go to preferences and designate amber alert as an automatic hidable subject.

That way you will never, ever see it.

I will add one more thing, for the most part I no longer bother with any of my local news, even when it makes national. Nor do I bother posting ANY analysis on DU, due to people like you. I use my blog for that. where I can keep some of the worst offenders from here at bay.

But this, go argue with these guys

Do you want me to give you sources in Spanish, now that the program has expanded to places like Mexico as well? I think I will.

Maybe Canada?

I think I made my point.

The rescuer had seen and read the AMBER ALERT and hustled her away while the perp walked
away from his car at a rest stop.
We are pretty savvy here in CA and some major freeways run N and S with lots of drivers on them.

They work…but I wish we had more info on the driver of the Infinity.

at times, it drives me nuts, how thin the information is.

By now I would expect PHOTOS from the kid as well.

I agree that it is a waste when posting local traffic and weather reports, but in the case of missing children, it is right.

19. Ha! Another False Amber Alert by the police

When the police do this what ends up happening is people will start ignoring them. In this case no child kidnapping was ever involved and no gun either. This Amber Alert violated Amber alert protocol. DU is not the Amber alert notification service and it is best handled by the media and those that sign up for these amber alerts which most turn out to be false or involve a family custody dispute. This false amber alert put these people in danger because the police may have pulled this vehicle and one wrong move by the driver and the cops would of shot people or an armed citizen could have tried to intervene.

It doesn't end well until they nab the suspected shoplifter, 54-year-old Roy McCamey. Oakland Police are still looking for him.
