Do people in Puerto Rico know the GOP hates them?

There were about 100,000 registered Republicans in Puerto Rico as of the year 2000. I don't know how many there are today, but 83% voted for Romney in the primary.

Puerto Rico currently has a population of almost four million people, so I guess 100,000 registered Republicans (if that's still the number today) isn't a lot. Nonetheless, I'm supposing those 100,000 are composed of some combination of very rich people and very dumb people.

If anyone from Puerto Rico is on DU, could you fill us in on how the GOP is viewed in general.

Is there a DU Puerto Rico group? Or would that not work because they don't read English? Happyhippychick Mar 2012 #1

Daily Kos estimates that about 132,000 Puerto Ricans voted in the hotly-contested Republican primary in 2012. Compare and contrast that with June 1, 2008, when 385,000 Puerto Ricans voted in the Democratic primary, which by that time had already settled on Barack Obama as the Democratic candidate.

Yeah, better than 3 to 1 turnout in favor of Democrats.

the US. I'd be willing to bet that many of the 100,000 are higher income people. With one or two exceptions, I've never met anyone who openly supported Bush or consider themselves Republican. The people who do pay attention. By and large don't care for Repubes. I also suspect that some of the many military families, just like here have bought into the propaganda reg. "supporting or not supporting" the troops.

So more or less it's a combination as you stated. I remember my mom crying when Reagan won when I was 7. It took me a while to see why.
