Happy. And then I read this on Facebook. Remains of Avonte Oquendo found. Fuck it all.

Why it touches me I cannot say.

Maybe because it was posted by a dear friend in Florence, Italy, but links back to a news item in New York, a body found, a young man.

Last seen in Long Island City.

Aw, fuck it.

COLLEGE POINT (WABC) -- DNA has confirmed the remains found in Queens are Avonte Oquendo, the Medical Examiner says. His family has been informed.

Qquendo's mother was notified early Tuesday afternoon, officials said. The cause and manner of death are pending

Attorney David Perecman says he will file the legal claim on behalf of the family of Avonte Oquendo, whose remains were found at the edge of the East River last week. Perecman says Avonte's mother, Vanessa Fontaine, is inconsolable.

"She finally just broke down," he said of his phone call to her Tuesday morning. He said it was the first time except for brief moments that he'd seen her cry that much.

Fighting with assholes in the US over bullshit and it takes my friend in Italy to post a picture of a kid who is dead and gone to drive home the point.

Drugs, guns, knives, what the fuck, it doesn't matter how, he's gone.

I'm sorry Avonte, I'm sorry for the wasted promise so many failed to support, I'm sorry for your family.

I wish your smile could have meant more than a FaceBook post.

Fuck it.

Just fuck it.

I don't know how I got so lucky. My autistic son never wandered. I get to hug and kiss my son good night tonight and Avonte's mother does not.

The manner of death matters, it helps identify the killer. The person who would take advantage of the boy and help stop it from happening again to another child
