Rajoy is Prime Minister under a king, not President. Tho' I would be overjoyed to hear that Spain is now a republic, and the last remnants of the second Count Julian's regime are destroyed.

With some FDR thrown in for good measure.

I'll never forget his 2nd inaugural address when he linked the civil rights struggles of women, African Americans and LGBT folk: Seneca Falls to Selma to Stonewall.

And there's a whole generation of progressives who have come of age during Obama's presidency.

Obama is not a progressive. He is a moderate conservative by any yardstick that extends beyond the last 20 years.

Hell, he even had to be dragged into supporting gay rights.

"The truth of the matter is that my policies are so mainstream that if I had set the same policies that I had back in the 1980s, I would be considered a moderate Republican," he told Noticias Univision 23 in a White House interview.

It's pretty easy for these groups of people, actually:
-Money hoarders.
-Climate change deniers, and business owners who don't want to follow stricter environmental regulations.
-Rank-and-file Republicans who loathe all Democrats and liberals.
-Perennial cynics.
-People who don't fully know (or care) about his accomplishments thus far.
-People who resent having a Black president.
-Gun fetishers who fantasize about all guns being snatched up one day in the name of government tyranny.
-People who are under-informed about the checks-and-balances system.

I think people want to be able to pick and choose a President like they can load a plate at a Chinese buffet restaurant. And then they get upset when the Prexy isn't composed of only their favorite things.

Unrealistic, but there you go. Obama has done a very good job in a very rough situation and deserves our praise and support. I think history will represent him more fairly than what we hear today.

I'd love to the Obama's as neighbors or good friends. But his job as President requires us to give our feedback, even when negative, for the good of the country. Although he has done many admirable things, works very hard, and is a Hell of a lot better than his predecessor , I don't agree with everything he is doing and feel an obligation to speak out and do what I can to stop the policies I disagree with.

Wall St. CEO's still walk free. Bush, Cheney and crew still walk free. He put up zero fight for single payer health care. Closed door negotiations on TTP. He will give in to the people that want the Keystone pipeline. No harsh words from him about the WV chemical spill. Tell me when to stop.
