So the querulous Senator from Massachusetts, the allegedly-Liberal doyenne of The Left, co-sponsored a bill with Tom Coburn today.
Apparently, the duo think that America's Bankers haven't suffered enough: they want our government bureaucrats to fully disclose the terms of any settlements with corporations for so-called "wrongdoing". She says they want to, and I quote:
"shut down back-room deal-making and ensure that Congress, citizens and watchdog groups can hold regulatory agencies accountable for strong and effective enforcement."
Her words!
And, worst of all, she's counting on Democrats not knowing her little secret, but those of us in the know, know better: Coburn is a Republican!
Traitor!
Fellow Democrats, Warren's actions once again show us why Americans need Hillary Clinton as our next president, and soon! Hillary will never, ever fall for the Republican trick of disclosing the terms of settlements with corporations! Hillary knows how important it is to keep these things secret, particularly for big donors.
In fact, if I know Hillary, she'll fight like the Warrior Goddess that she is to increase privacy for America's corporate so-called "wrongdoers"!
So, my Fire-bagging friends... are you Ready For Hillary yet?*
Jump on in, the water's great!**
Regards,
Third-Way Manny

Text of Senator Warrens Remarks Available Here
WASHINGTON, DC In remarks delivered on the floor of the Senate this afternoon, United States Senator Elizabeth Warren applauded the Consumer Financial Protection Bureaus (CFPB) new mortgage rules, which will go into effect on Friday, January 10.
Under the new rules, a lender must determine that a borrower has the ability to repay a mortgage before issuing the loan. The rules will also prohibit brokers from being paid by lenders to steer customers into higher-cost loans and strengthen the mortgage market by improving mortgage servicing practices.
"Thanks to the consumer agency's new rules, families will be safer, pension funds and other investors will be safer, and our whole economy will be safer," Senator Warren said in her remarks. "And the rules will reshape the mortgage market for the better. They will give people a better chance to buy homes and a better chance to keep those homes, and they will force mortgage lenders and servicers to compete by offering better rates and customer service, not by tricking and trapping people. These rules will help markets work better, and they will reduce the risk that the economy will crash again."
Senator Warren highlighted the success the CFPB already has had helping consumers, including returning more than $3 billion to consumers who were cheated and resolving tens of thousands of complaints against financial institutions. The new mortgage rules will affect millions of families who own or plan to purchase a home.
"The consumer bureau's new mortgage rules show once again that government can fix problems," said Senator Warren. "Sure, we have to work hard, we have to fight against those who benefit from the broken system, and we have to stick with it even when the odds are against us. But when we do those things, real change is possible in this country. We're seeing that up close this week."
For more information about the new mortgage rules, a fact sheet is available at the CFPB's website here.

Oh, and my father is on the look out for it. They live close by, so if I see it, he can come shoot the damn thing. it's on my right hand which is still swollen and has a big bandage on it, so the only thing I could do is club it to death, but I'd probably enjoy that.

(39,961 posts)These are wild, two of them rushed the back door earlier this month, this was a juvenile. A lady in the neighborhood is feeding them, and they became extremely aggressive. I don't hate them, I just hate the fact that they have become whacked out and have no fear of humans including biting people when you go outside.
lonestarnot
(77,097 posts)Aerows
(39,961 posts)Then they expect it, and become extremely vicious when you don't, attack pets, you and can destroy a home, too. They are nothing to fool with. I have a puncture wound between my fingers that nearly goes all the way through, and another on the back of my hand. It was NOT provoked. It ran up to me on the porch thinking I'd feed it. Later, I went on the side patio, and one ran up and bit me on the toe. I don't know if it was even the same thing, because there is a plague of the damn things around here because someone is doing exactly what the poster below me is doing, feeding. They've lost all fear of humans, but you don't even know if they are rabid or not because they CHARGE at you.

She's cute, and snatched my shirt one night when I was asleep on the porch. She nipped me (nothing bad, just a playful pinch) on the toe when she wasn't fed. I fed her, and she placidly crunched on cat food like she owned the place. She was about a foot away from me. I didn't dare touch her."

Aerows
(39,961 posts)and I hope they don't turn on you, and you are especially careful around this time which is breeding time. That is incredibly damn dangerous if you are feeding them like that. You have no idea what you are bringing on the people around you, either, and their pets.
They are DANGEROUS, and are the number one carrier of rabies in the US. Cute? Yes. Until they charge at you. You are bringing havoc on the entire area where you live, and I say this as a person that loves animals and has a rescue cat. It's foolish.
EDIT: They ATTACK when hungry no matter who you are. If you didn't notice their fangs and the fact that they can dart around quicker than a cat, I just don't know what to tell you.

(656 posts)But me and my spouse have raised and released just about every animal known to man, skunks, squirrels, rabbits, deer, fox, coyotes, and hopefully someday a bear. We rehab animals and let them go because that is the right thing to do, and we both understand the risks involved but we love all animals and truly believe everything on this earth just needs a little help to survive, if that is wrong then i guess us helping people is also wrong also, ( just Kidding). The bottom line is i will always help anything in need whether it is a human or a helpless baby animal. Heck we have even helped fish survive

(29,707 posts)............. Coburn is currently undergoing chemotherapy, and he may soon have major surgery that could temporarily or permanently sideline him from the Senate. When the results of medical tests return in February, Coburn will have a clearer indication of the additional treatment he needs and whether it will interfere with his Senate work.
Coburn said he believes hes plenty healthy enough to serve out my term. But when asked if anything could change that calculation, the no-nonsense Coburn said wryly: I can have a heart attack and drop over, but my heart is pretty good.
He added: The decision I make will be made in conjunction with my family as to how I can best implement and impact things. And if I dont think I can, I wont.

(3,572 posts)I've said before that I like Tom Coburn for his independence and "True Believer" stance. He's not a typical politician. (As shown by his joining up with Warren for this bill)
Remember the President's article he wrote about Coburn for TIME Magazine
