It is refreshing to hear that the leader of Japan, Abe, has to listen to at least one person who has good nuclear sense.

The USS ship that was irradiated was radiated mainly by air deposition. From what I have read the crew members that have become sick are those who were on the top deck at the time of the worst radiation air plumes.

The finding of high radiation levels 80 feet underground is expected. The cores from the three melted reactors are expected to be underground and polluting the ground water. That highly irradiated water will end up in the ocean.
