I absolutely believe that we MUST break the cycle of hate, racism, and social inequalities if we are going to make a difference. There is no easy fix..at all.

It's about poverty and powerlessness, it's the culture, we have to change it, we have to heal.

Welcome to DU.

This is also about all other deaths that nobody seems to give a shit about. Drugs, stabbing, alcohol, traffic accidents, drownings. All are dead and most way too early in life but they are mostly forgotten. Do you agree?

and most deaths from GUNZ are from hand guns that really was not being addressed by those cosmetic bans.

Yes I mourn for the Newtown dead and I also mourn for all of the others, DO YOU?

two post locked of yours but not mine as I think it is respectful not just flame bait.

A randomly-selected Jury of DU members completed their review of this alert at Sat Dec 14, 2013, 01:30 PM, and voted 3-3 to LEAVE IT ALONE.

Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: I have to judge this post not the totality of the poster's work. He/she may be a total asshole but there is nothing inherently wrong with this post. IMO the alerter is reading a lot into it that may not be there.
Juror #3 voted to HIDE IT and said: That's kind of a dicky post.
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT and said: I normally never vote to hide anything. I don't like gun nuts and think of this as my way of exterminating the pro gun culture. It shouldn't be hidden, but I despise gun nuts more than I value freedom of expression. Was a hard choice.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: This is a stupid, petty, vindictive alert. Shame on you.
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT and said: What's the point of this, just to stir things up? It's not overly offensive, just stupidly insensitive.

I'd go with #4, a dicky post but the right to offend outweighs the douche nature of the post.

And if this gets an alert, I am only referring to the post itself, I don't make any claims about the poster.

... it is important to remember that it was indeed a gun massacre.

We can mourn all senseless murders and deaths, without pretending that easy access to guns in this country is not directly attributable to this slaughter
