Fox Business’ John Stossel ‘upset’ poor people aren’t selling kidneys for $1,200

Fox Business’ John Stossel ‘upset’ poor people aren’t selling kidneys for $1,200

............

Stossel’s list of things that needed to be privatized included parks, libraries, law enforcement, military and “organ selling.”

“Organ selling!” Doocy exclaimed.

“This upsets people, but I’m upset it’s not legal,” Stossel insisted. “In the one country where it is legal, nobody waits for a kidney.”

“Where is that?” Doocy asked.

“I’m afraid to say it’s Iran,” Stossel shrugged. “But, still! There’s no waiting line. In America, lots of people die waiting for kidneys.”

“So you think it should be legal in this country to sell off an organ you’re not using,” Doocy pressed.

“Yes, we have two kidneys, we need one, people need them,” the Fox Business host declared. “It’s your body, it should be your choice. Why does the government limit what you can do what you can do with your body?”

The ACA is the beginning of a new perception of humanity itself, it's more than just a health care law.
When health care really is a right, and single payer instituted, then we will be able to boast that as a society, we are pro-life.
To commodify a public good is to despise it.

I believe that it wouldn't be a bad idea to compensate family's for dead donations, maybe by waiving the medical bill for the stay that brought them there or by paying funeral costs. I just know we need to find ways to increase the number of available organs.

Workers who want to donate a kidney will be offered up to six weeks’ paid leave under a federal government plan to reduce the waiting list for life-saving organs - See more at: http://marginalrevolution.com/marginalrevolution/2013/04/australia-to-compensate-organ-donors.html#sthash.CBcypelT.dpuf

You can take a donor liver and supply more than one recipient because a recipient with one lobe of liver will generate a functioning liver. It's common because of this to have living donors of livers who have donated part of their liver to a genetic relative.

Stossel's mustache, properly partitioned, could easily supply 3 or 4 fascists with a mustache transplant.

When the girl gets too old to service the pedophiles she's rented out to, you could put her to sleep and harvest her organs. You wouldn't have to leave her any kidneys or any other organs. If selling the organs was made legal, you wouldn't even have to sell them on the black market.

This is bullshit and it is not really choice when you are coerced by poverty to do something so desperate. It makes me angry to see people use anti-abortion language about this kind of thing because it is NOT THE SAME.

Nancy Scheper-Hughes wrote on it (she was the one at the center of investigating the NJ rabbis and mayors' organ-legging ring a few years back)

the RW *always* twists the previous generation's talking points to fit its needs: Reagan compared Americans fighting against Nicaraguan literacy to the Abraham Lincoln brigades and Lend-Lease, GMO flunkies always maunder on about global warming and evolution denial, and the right-libertarians are the undisputed kings of turning fairness and proletarian labor and equality on their heads to serve causes that'd make Bull Connor blanch
