An example of his home life "Cruz’s dad, Carrollton pastor Rafael Cruz, riled up the crowd with a fire-and-brimstone speech about how Obamacare represents socialism which is also caused by gay marriage — or something like that."

http://ballotpedia.org/wiki/index.php/Laws_governing_recall_in_Texas
Recall of local elected officials in Texas is available only in political subdivisions that have their own charter, and only if their charter specifically authorizes recall of the local elected officials.

Texas has about 1,200 cities and 352 of those cities have their own charter. In the terminology of the state, these are known as the "home rule cities." To become a "home rule city" or a "charter city", the population of the city must be over 5,000 and its voters must have held an election to adopt a home rule charter. Over 90% of the state's home rule cities, or close to 320 of them, do include a local recall provision.[1]

I saw a headline, “Houston Chronicle regrets endorsing CRUZ,” and I reacted with, how-come-us-plebs KNOW BETTER at the time than the Elite that have all the resources at their command.

I hadn’t read the actual Chronicle editorial. Now, reading it, it's much worse than I thought. Not only did they endorse CRUZ, they did it with the expectation that he take Kay Bailey as his model, and their actual FIRST choice was DEWHURST, whom they claim is a Moderate (“in the TX GOP”). Yeah, moderate compared to the rest of the NUTCASE TX GOP.

And continuing their CRACK INSIGHT, they now say DEWHURST is being pitiful and is facing THREE STRONG wingnuts, so the Chronicle will be doing its bit to see to it that one of the THREE WINGNUTS will win over any “moderate” that they claim to support.

The Houston Press has been where I tend to get most of my local news anyway, and they're owned by the Village Voice.

from the editorial:
...While we're on the topic, we'd like to think our first choice to succeed Hutchison in the Senate, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, would have been more amenable to following Hutchison's example than Cruz has been. But these days, we're not so sure. Dewhurst, long considered a moderate in the Texas GOP, clearly was rattled by his unexpected loss to Cruz for the Senate seat.

Since the defeat, the lieutenant governor has attempted a full-blown political makeover designed to make him the darling of the conservative wing of the Texas party.

Faced with the impossible task of outflanking three strong conservative challengers, the traditional moderate Dewhurst does not seem like a man comfortable in his own skin. It's painful to watch.

Due to his loss to Cruz, Dewhurst has moved to the right and is now calling for the impeachment of President Obama http://www.juanitajean.com/2013/10/15/the-dew-jumps-into-the-pits-of-hell/

Here’s the best part: By Texas political standards, Dewhurst is considered “the moderate” in the race to keep his Lt. Governor seat. He lost to Ted Cruz for the senate seat because he wasn’t able to produce a clown hat, a funny nose, and Sarah Palin’s endorsement quick enough.....

Yep. God wants Barack Obama impeached. And David Dewhurst knows all there is to know about bags of feces, bottles of urine, tampons, and bygawd God.

What the Lt. Governor of Texas has to do with impeaching President Obama, I dunno. Hell, I still don’t even know what he has to do with tampons.

Well, thanks a bunch Houston Chronicle. And if I can pull my tongue out of my cheek, I’ll tell you why your big ole pile of festering idiocy makes you look even dumber than you suspect.

Back at election time, you endorsed Ted Cruz and now you’re sorry that you did. Well, isn’t that special?

First off, by endorsing Ted Cruz you endorsed a man whose supporters can’t read. Well, maybe they can read the Drudge Report but even at that their computer screens are covered in Cheetos smudge marks because they have to point at the words as they read them. So what’s the point of endorsing a man in the damn newspaper when you’re just gonna piss off people who can, indeed, read.

Second off, hollering whoa way past the saloon door leaves you and your horse looking mighty dumb. Did you just now notice that Ted Cruz is a box of crayons short of a full fledged kindergarten class? You just came around to that way of thinking yesterday? Where the hell have you been?

And on the freekin’ front page you have the unmitigated dumbassery to ask, “Coup for Cruz, At What Cost?” Oh, I dunno, the United States of America? Go find whoever writes things for your newspaper and fire them. Right now. Before they break something else.

Third off, by endorsing Cruz you have caused David Dewhurst to move from moderate to raging tea party drooler. Well done. Why didn’t you just go get a stick and beat all the moderates into submission?

OUCH!

"When we endorsed Ted Cruz in last November's general election, we did so with many reservations and at least one specific recommendation - that he follow Hutchison's example in his conduct as a senator.

Obviously, he has not done so. Cruz has been part of the problem in specific situations where Hutchison would have been part of the solution.

We feel certain she would have worked shoulder to shoulder with Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, in crafting a workable solution that likely would have avoided the government shutdown altogether"
