Let's hear it for The People's View!

Spandan and Company are killing it over there right now. Articles slapping down Boehner, the anti-Obama Beltway Media, Chuck Todd, and Fourth Amendment trolls while touting Health Care Reform, Wage and Overtime protection, and the President's surging poll numbers on Syria!

I dont speak for the progressives but I would say their frustration stems from the fact that a good share of the country either are Republicans, or are Democrats that are willing to settle for the status-quo with children going to bed hungry and with no medical care. Willing to turn our national security to Republicans like Gen Clapper and Gen Alexander, who care nothing of our Constitution.

of the *phenomenon* known as Spandan.

There was Dean drama, then some sort of drama with one of his (I believe) fellow volunteers (Scott somebody-or-other), then the "good riddance Obama" drama. All coming from someone who loves to toss out "emoprog." LOL What's really funny is that Spandan, in all his Executive Assistant/Fundraiser/Kaplan University wisdom, thinks he knows better than Krugman, Baker, Stiglitz, Kuttner, Ellsberg, et al. I would have been willing to listen to his POV, but it was impossible to get past the name calling and truly shitty writing.

Liberals must be doing something right. Rightwing media has been attacking for decades, now it's coming from (supposedly) within the party. Guess they believe Gibbs and his "professional left" gave them carte blanche. Enjoy it Sensible Centrists: trade agreements, deregulation, boom/bust, prohibitively expensive college educations, stagnant wages, ever-widening gap between the have- and have-nots...

...Right wing extremists may be pushing the Republican party in Congress to take the nation into financial abyss if they cannot force a repeal of all of these benefits and a reversal of the trend in lower costs and better care for Americans, but the truth is that this is their endgame. The exchanges are coming. Americans are going to be pleasantly surprised when they see the rates, and especially when they see how little they will pay after applying the subsidies. There is no going back. Obamacare is saving lives, improving health care and arresting cost growth. In a decade's time, even speaking of repealing Obamacare will become synonymous with repealing Medicare.

I enjoyed the constitutional analysis of Smith v. Maryland. Its essence is that because Harry Blackmun wrote the decision, it's clearly golden. There's no mention of the fact that the court completely ignored the necessity of the telephone in modern life nor the government's clear assent to the monopoly of Ma Bell. The court ignored these facts so that it could disingenuously argue that customers were "voluntarily" giving their information to the phone company when they had no other option if they wanted to use one of the necessities of life. It really strains credibility to argue that there can be any truly voluntary transactions with a monopoly.

I also enjoyed his cheerleading of austerity fiscal policy in the top article on the page. The bit about "leftist ideologues" in the section containing the author's fervent hope to cut Social Security and Medicare was quite funny. I wasn't aware that Paul Krugman could be described as a leftist ideologue by anyone not on the wingnut right, but there you go.
