Republicans Giving Up on the Black Vote?
____ "You have no Blacks on staff at the Republican National Committee or any of its other committees and there are no Blacks on staff of any of the presidential campaigns," snorts longtime Black Republican strategist and marketing expert Raynard Jackson. "But maybe after a few more electoral losses you will awaken to the most loyal customer you have ever had."
. . . a source tells the Philadelphia Tribune that focus could shift back to Black outreach as the Romney campaign prepares to hire a senior advisor for that exact purpose. While the source would not give details on the timing of an announcement, it was clear the embattled former Massachusetts governor is thinking ahead to the general election.
"Were finalizing the details," said the source. "But, were not completely there, yet."
. . . Many Republican strategists and candidates alike are quick to attribute those dismal ratings to Black dismissiveness.
"Its hard. We get called racists, but were expected to go out and do outreach with these people," complains one veteran White GOP campaign expert who wanted to speak off the record. Visibly angered by the question, the senior aide to numerous Republican campaigns accused Black voters of "setting unfair expectations."

Whatever will they do?

Until we decide as a people that were going to do that, were going to stay in the same situation were in right now."

(4,510 posts)anybody else for that matter? Tax cuts? Anti-abortion bills? There's not really a whole lot of reasons for us to support them. Maybe if they were more moderate like they were in the early 60's but definately not now.

been moving to the right for 30 years and the question becomes "What does the Democratic party deliver us?"
The point is that when the Left or the Blacks have no where else to go they take us for granted.
When that happens they do not serve us they serve the same greedy interests as the GOP.

(23,759 posts)how is it an unfair expectation to be treated with the dignity accorded to caucasians?
how is it an unfair expectation to have the first African American President given the same deference as all previous presidents?
how is it an unfair expectation to not have to worry about driving while black?
how is it an unfair expectation to have the same advantage in the market place as others?
how is it an unfair expectation to not have to live with racism all my life?
how is it an unfair expectation that when I get to the voting booth I don't have to worry if I am going to be callanged?
how is it an unfair expectation that I wish to viewed through the same lens as those who are not my ethnic type?
Mister Republican you speak in code; let me decipher it for those who missed it:
I'm a racist and I want to stay that way because it gives me an unfair advantage in society that I don't really deserve!!!
and no, I am not African American but have been the victim of prejudice leveled against me when I first came to the US andn a personal level don't wish that on anyone and on a civic level it's immoral!
So Mister white Republican let me put it to you as nice as I can: STFU!!!!!

(2,322 posts)Could it be the way republican candidates bash Obama as a "food stamp" president? Or imply he's not a real U.S. citizen? Maybe the remarks that blacks don't work hard or that they're welfare queens? Or maybe it's those bumper stickers that say "make the white house white again..."
How did blacks get the idea that the republicans weren't as interested in helping them out as the democrats? Could it be those voter laws that keep locking out old black women? Could it be their take down of an organization that helped poor black people organize? Or maybe it's just that the democrats delivered the first black president?
Naw...couldn't be any of that....could it?
