August 8, 2013 (Lakeside) The Amber Alert for Hannah Anderson, 16, and her brother, Ethan, 8, has now extended to Mexico. Other developments have led to the extension of the Amber Alert to Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Canada.

The San Diego Sheriff warns that murder/kidnapping suspect James DiMaggio might have left his home in Boulevard with explosives.

And I just learned Mexico has a formal Amber Alert system... very recent. The alert has been activated in Baja California Norte

And not at formal crossing. Last year when we covered the Chockey fire, well we were at spitting distance, a few times by the border fence. That's 15 minutes from Ross Blvd...but what would we know?

That said, due to war on drugs there are a lot of checkpoints manned by the army and the Federal Police...in Mexico...

By the by, pure speculation on my part...why Mexican Authorities are involved starting Monday.

He's an avid camper too, so people at National and State parks have been told to keep eyes open.

Tomorrow I need to go to Sherriffs office and "camp" for a little while.

Trolling for more mexican media I might have just come across a story that should be first page news in the States... at least in San Diego.

One of the san diego members of the Congressional delegation (he represents the border), just came out against militarizing the border. Just sent an email to staff asking for an interview. Why oh why do I need to read that in a Mexico City site?

But I am used to it. You want to find news, real news, of the US... go to foreign media.

11. California kidnapping suspect's car found in Valley County Idaho

CASCADE — A car matching the description of one driven by kidnapping suspect James DiMaggio has been found in Valley County.

The vehicle was found in a remote, mountainous area of the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness, according to Andrea Dearden, spokeswoman for the Ada County Sheriff's Office.

The vehicle is not easily accessible, Dearden said, and it may take several hours to get more information from the scene.

Although the license plates were removed, the VIN number matched DiMaggio's car, San Diego Sheriff Bill Gore said Friday at a press conference.
