GOP lament's dismal Arizona debate, speculation about new candidate joining race

Romney heads to Michigan as GOP figures lament dismal Arizona debate

Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum fail to shine, prompting Republicans to speculate about new candidate joining race

Senior Republican figures raised the prospect of a new candidate joining the race after a dismal televised debate on Wednesday night in which both Mitt Romney and his main rival Rick Santorum failed to shine.

Although it remains unlikely that a new candidate will emerge at this late stage, the fact it is even being discussed reflects unhappiness within the party about the present crop of candidates.

The clamour for another candidate would begin to rise if Romney was to lose his home state Michigan to Santorum in Tuesday's primary.

The Democrats, heartened by the chaotic Republican race, derisively claimed voters would have learned more from watching Downton Abbey than from the Republican debates.

because he refused to pander he received little or no support. All I could think was how stupid the repubs were to let him go. Following him was Christie. The contrast was mind-boggling... This was on Morning Joe.

9. Huntsman was too not-insane to ever have a chance at the nomination.

My favorite Huntsman moment was when he broke into Chinese during a debate. The expressions on the faces of his competitors were priceless. Unfortunately for Huntsman, showing the ability to speak a foreign language probably sealed his defeat.

It is still possible to get the total needed to secure the nomination without those States.
