BOULEVARD - An Amber Alert has been issued for a 16-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy who were abducted from Boulevard and possibly with a man suspected in a deadly fire.

Hannah Marie Anderson, 16, and Ethan Anderson, 8, were last seen in Boulevard on Saturday.

According to sheriff's officials, inside the home, firefighters found the body of 44-year-old Lakeside resident Christina Anderson. Investigators determined she had been slain.

Additionally, investigators found a dog that had been killed, and in another part of the property, the remains of an unidentified child were discovered. The cause of the child's death has not yet been determined.

and apparently unrelated to your area. Also, clearly very old. I was surprised to get the alert. And even horrified reading this thread when I thought it might be related to the ones you all received. But it wasn't. I checked. I got a 3 month old amber alert on my phone. What the hell? So I tried to find out why. An alert was issued and canceled in April for Calispell, Montana after a couple were arrested in Washington. So why did I get the alert today? I googled and found that my county disavowed having anything to do with alerts on our phones:

On Sunday, April 28, at 3:30 a.m., many residents who signed up for the Pierce County Alert System received an Amber Alert on their cellular phones. The system that generated the Amber Alert on your cellular phone was not the Pierce County ALERT System.

The Amber Alert was initiated by Washington State Patrol. The Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA), that many of you received on your cellular phones, appears to have been launched by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). To learn more about how the NCMEC does this, go to the following Web Site www.amberalert.gov and select “click here”.

The WEA system is administered by the Federal Government, and is installed as an application on newer cellular smart phones. It provides an efficient tool for sending short emergency messages. The WEA is a partnership between FEMA, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and all wireless carriers, to enhance public safety.

They didn't know anyone was in the house until today and didn't find out about the children until this evening. Police also suspect that the house was broken into, all four people were killed, and the assailant left in DiMaggio's car.

BOULEVARD (CNS) - A search was underway today for a man suspected of kidnapping at least one of two missing children, killing their mother and setting fire to a home in Boulevard, where the woman's body was found, along with that of an unidentified child.

Hannah Anderson, 16, and Ethan Anderson, 8, may have been taken by James Lee DiMaggio, 40, who is believed to have been in a ``close platonic relationship'' with their mother, 44-year-old Christina Anderson of Lakeside, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

Anderson's body and a dead dog were found as fire crews were extinguishing the blaze at DiMaggio's home and detached garage at 2071 Ross Ave. shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday, sheriff's Lt. Glenn Giannantonio said. The body of a child was also found as crews searched through the rubble of one of the burned buildings, he said.

Investigators determined that Anderson was the victim of homicide, Giannantonio said without elaboration. How the child died was not immediately determined, he said.
