Ah comic con...starts tomorrow

We will cover it, alas we are not interested in the headliners..why should we? TMZ will do that, as well as Entertainment tonight.

We are interested in the far less high profile panels and other events.

And of course any crazee (it's comic con I know) event that happens and we can get to.

Anyhoo, if you are in San Diego for this...take the trolley. We got our five day passes today. Parking downtown...what a nice joke

There will lots of other geek goodness there, no doubt.

If you attend, Nadin, have fun.

Particularly if you are in the he-man woman haters club. Frankly you should probably be suspicious of women in general.

I also love Once Upon a Time, but without Lana Parrilla it's useless. Gennifer Godwin and Jennifer Morrison irritate the shit out of me.

Rep. John Lewis To Visit BEA, San Diego Comic-Con To Promote ‘March’

By Calvin Reid | Feb 04, 2013

Announced last summer for publication in August 2013 by Top Shelf Productions, March is a three volume graphic autobiography of longtime Congressman and legendary Civil Rights veteran John Lewis, that will be co-produced by Andrew Aydin, Lewis’ co-writer, and award-winning cartoonist Nate Powell. In a phone call from his Congressional office in Washington, D.C., Lewis discussed his interest in comics, his desire to reach a new generation of young people with his story and plans to visit the San Diego Comic-Con to promote the work of nonfiction comics.

Lewis and his new graphic autobiography March will be featured at a Book and Author Breakfast at this year’s BookExpo America and Lewis will appear at the American Library Association convention and the San Diego Comic-Con this summer. Considered a key member of the Civil Rights leadership of the 1960s along with such historic figures as Martin Luther King, Whitney Young and Roy Wilkins, John Lewis is a Civil Rights legend. Lewis was a key organizer and leader during the Civil Rights Movement and as at the core of many of the most famous, important and often deadly violent protest marches, fighting to register black voters in the face of violent and hostile racist mobs, mobs supported and unrestrained by the local police.

I got John Lewis' autograph at a March we did in Ohio in '04. He led a march to SoS Ken Blackwell's office protesting voter suppression. If I'd been a little smarter, I would have given Rep. Lewis something smaller than a 3' x 4' placard to sign...

but I dislike those two because they make anti-gay statements every chance they get. Jennifer Morrison is a fundie and is appalled that Swan/Queen has taken off (female/female relationship between the two) in fan fiction. Gennifer Goodwin has been less tactful. That's why I don't like them - they are both homophobic.

characters as 'evidence' that someone is homophobic doesn't make much sense, but to each their own.

It started as a comics convention, in one room at El Cortez...these days it takes the San Diego convention and overflows it.

It is still comics, but also the largest media event for Hollywood. Me, I like the panels on some popular culture, writing fiction and the history of the comic code. Last year we learned a lot about steam punk

And attendees do an incredible job with costumes. Follow my twitter feed, have been posting some for that aspect.

Of course, since we "pray" to the false gods like Aquaman...I wish I were kidding, we have now a regular presence of Jesus freaks trying to save our souls.

Have fun. Am jealous. Take pictures.
