No matter the color of your skin.. the religion you embrace.. who you care about..Trayvon Martin is our child..
When a 17 year old cannot go to the store in the early evening, and buy himself some candy, and a little ice tea and walk home in peace.. we need to talk with one mouth.. stand together .. and demand safety for our children.. sanity in our system.
He was killed in cold blood, because of someone elses fears of people who look different than they do..
If someone is stalking you and you cannot defend yourself from them shooting you.. or your voice be heard from the grave.. we are losing our moorings..
I will follow the Martin family as they try to navigate this, and as so many people who have experienced violence against family members.. speak to us..we need to open our hearts..
The first place we start.. is acknowledging this was our child..
Hold responsible the goverment that let a fearful and disturbed person like Zimmerman have a gun legally..

They are younger than Trayvon was, but when I look at him as a little boy, I see my sons.
It breaks my heart. I've cried too many times to count since Saturday over a young man I never even met.

and we are different races.. well he is mixed ... but I think when we see as you do 
.. all our children are our children.. when we can see ourselves in their faces.. this fear that some hold on to will start to dissipate..
The incarceration rate of young African American males is heartbreaking.. and the attempt to portray Trayvon as a thug, by people who are so fearful of the other.. that they try and find the smallest groups they can to belong to.. to associate with... because they so so afraid.. and being so afraid are dangerous to us all..
