Zimmerman family has a (condescending) message for Trayvon's family and others

"From the onset of this tragic event, our family has been clear to express our trust in the judicial system. A jury of one's peers is the hallmark of our country's judicial system. The American justice system is the finest in the world. George's fate is now in the hands of the jury, who will make their decision based on evidence and the facts of the case. As we await a verdict we will remain hopeful and ask for the public to remain peaceful, no matter the outcome. Though we maintain George committed no crime whatsoever, we acknowledge that the people who called for George's arrest and subsequent trial have now witnessed both events come to pass. We hope now that as Americans we will all respect the rule of law, which begins with respecting the verdict. The judicial system has run its course -- pray for justice, pray for peace, pray for our country."

But they do have the odds on their side. The prosecution sucked, hard. IANAL, but really, they could have done way better.

You don't usually get to see them in all their glory, however, until it's time to circle the wagons. They are good at camouflaging their dysfunction.

The people??? How hard would it have been for them to replace "the people" with 'Trayvon Martin's parents' or something of that nature?

This is how the statement comes across: We gave those people what they wanted, but the jury will agree with us that GZ did nothing wrong. When George is acquitted, please don't riot! And to all our wonderful teabagging supporters, pray for this country so that upstanding citizens like my son aren't held responsible after killing unarmed black teens.

Thus not addressing the Martin's in particular. Whatever the verdict our system requires that we respect it.

Even some of the lawyers said, "He had a lawyer. He had a trial."

"PRAY for justice, PRAY for peace, PRAY for our country."

It insinuates that the Zimmerman family has God's holy blessing and that Trayvon's family does not because the Zimmerman's are white and the Martin family are black. So obvious.

There's racism around. No need to go making it up where it does exist.

and just waited for the police to arrive, he wouldn't be in this pile of shit.

I truly hope he (z) is convicted.

I hope his family expresses their trust in the judicial system at that point and drops all pretense of appeal.

Where was the jury system when their kid pulled his gun???

Z family … will you respect the verdict and rest quietly, with the judicial system having run its course, if/when there is a guilty verdict?

I didn’t think so.
