What I Want In November 2012... (May Surprise More Than A Few Of You) LOL !!!

Call it... WillyT's Pony...

I want women, GLTB folk, ALL minorities, students, the elderly, Veterans, Union members, the physically and mentally challeneged, the poor, the homeless, the unemployed, the under-employed, the powerless, and the uncounted/forgotten... the 99%

By vote... to SMACK DOWN THE RIGHTWING AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY !!!

I want it to DELEGITIMIZE THEM, I want it to THREATEN THEM, I want it to VANQUISH THEM !!!

I want them to no longer be able to hold their heads high...

I want them to lose MASSIVELY!!!

BUT...

I also want it to scare the crap out of the Democratic Party.

I want it to be so successful, that we end up with a Democratic House, a Filibuster-Proof Democratic Senate, and a Reagan/Johnson like LANDSLIDE for the Presidency.

I want Democrats to be happy with their success, but I also want them to think...

SHIT... THE PEOPLE ARE REALLY PISSED, AND THEY WANT US TO FIX THIS... PRONTO...

Finally... I want them to realize who's really in charge, and that if given this gift...

THEY BETTER NOT BLOW IT THIS TIME!!!

P.S. The Democrats held the house for 40 years because of FDR, and I believe lost it when they moved away from his policies, or no longer supported his policies, and could not DEFEND his policies...

No matter how (if) big the Democrats win, the Republicans always come right back in 2 years, and sometimes within just a few months.

It's happened before.

how does that scare the hell out of them? Seems like it sends the message that the staus quo is just fine and they can do no wrong.

It also gives a president who doesn't have to worry about re-election and who thinks the biggest driver of the deficit is Medicare, free rein. If you're going to do that, then get ready for the military-industrial-corporate version of an austerity package. Which will follow within months. And they won't give a damn about the message you thought you were sending.

By crushing the right of the right, we send a message to the right of the left... so to speak.

And if you're correct...

"It also gives a president who doesn't have to worry about re-election and who thinks the biggest driver of the deficit is Medicare, free rein. If you're going to do that, then get ready for the military-industrial-corporate version of an austerity package. Which will follow within months. And they won't give a damn about the message you thought you were sending."

Then we will all know that the "Democratic Party" no longer exists.

And we will move on accordingly.

Just look at what they did when they were in control. Nancy Pelosi used to rail against George Bush and his wars, and along with others repeatedly threatened to cut off spending for the wars. Turns out it was just an act, designed to fool the rank and file. As soon as she/they took control, they not only funded the wars but funded expansion of them.

They supported continuing tax cuts for the rich because they bought into the neo-liberal line of tax cuts bs and believe in them.

They supported high defense spending because they love it.

And they don't seem to mind military interventions all over the world.

And pretty soon, right after the election, they will agree with an austerity program that starts us down the road of gutting social programs, feigning opposition of course.

Have differing views on things like birth control.

The New Democrat leadership partisans are basically clones of moderate Republicans from 1995, the old Democratic leadership used to be liberal when I was young (into jobs programs that were not tax cuts, pro safety net, pro-labor), very different critters now, the current Republicans are Fascists rather than Fascist-lite so there are some differences.

There is no space between them when it comes to civil liberties these days, what with the shared hatred of Habeus Corpus and a shared love of drones and warrantless wire-tapping as well as this whole "some are above the law" mindset they appear to share.

And since the growth in population in the south results in more congressional districts, the GOP has built a pretty good sized base of operation.

Just listen to all the racists bullshit that is going on in the southern primaries.

I'm really tired of hearing this when I can show you that the South continued to vote for Democrats up until 1994! Nixon's Southern Strategy was either a bust or it was the slowest moving strategy imaginable. It took nearly 25 years to actually work.

Seriously, it was the spreading of hate radio and Rush Limpballs on all our radio stations down here in the 90s, following by the one-two punch of Faux News in the late 90s/early oughts that has fueled the Southern GOP voting bloc. I grew up here during the 70s and 80s and I always had Democratic senators, mostly Democratic governors and other Democratic representatives. That started changing in 1994. Trust me.

And, yes, the South is growing, but it's because of "Yankees" moving down here. That means the good-ole-boys and their GOP ways are being diluted, slowly, by Northern Democrats.

It took a long time for the redistricting to kick in as it takes time for the voting trends to present themself in the actual make up of the congress.

The GOP took the Senate in 1980 and held it until 1987.

The democrats in the house from the south were conservative and voted with the GOP for a very long time.

Several high profile democrats switched to the GOP over the years.

By losing the South I meant that process was started after the Civil Rights were enacted.

It takes time for changes like that actaully take place.

Hilarycare was a reason, but there too. We live in much different times than in FDR's. There were no social issues like abortion and gay marriage back then. The country is much too divided to ever have those kind of 49 state landslides and super-majorities in both Houses again. The country is better of splitting into five or so different countries.

Wherever you live there are legislative races that need campaign volunteers. It's the very best thing you can do to help those candidates win their elections. In your own districts and state. In a very real sense, it's up to you and ever other Democratic activist to see that what you are thinking about comes to pass.

If you'll do that, and turn your energy to that goal, along with everyone else, it will happen. It might anyway, but you can help.
