A firetruck, that was rushing to the plane, another died under the wing, outside the plane. Its too horrible to contemplate. Both had been ejected out of the tail section. It numbs the mind thinking about it. Both were Best friends according to their classmates.

San Francisco plane crash: Did rescue vehicle run over one of Chinese students from Boeing 777 wreck?
Ye Mengyuan, 17, and 16-year-old Wang Linjia were joined at the hip after becoming classmates four years ago. Both excelled in school and dreamed of a bright future.

JIANGSHAN, July 8, 2013 Photo taken on July 8, 2013 shows a picture of Wang Linjia (R) and Ye Mengyuan on a mobile phone, at Jiangshan Middle School in Jiangshan, east China's Zhejiang Province. Two Chinese passengers, Wang Linjia and Ye Mengyuan, were killed in a crash landing of an Asiana Airlines Boeing 777 at the San Francisco airport on Saturday morning. The two girls are both students of Jiangshan Middle School. Their family members headed for the United States on Monday. (Credit Image: Han Chuanhao/Xinhua/ZUMAPRESS.com)

It was no surprise that the two girls were sitting together — they had been joined at the hip for four years.

under China's one-child policy. Which would make this an even more devastating loss for the girls' parents. I cannot even begin to imagine the depth of their losses.

And there's nothing like that first moment when you meet them at the airport. Their young minds and hearts are full of expectation, and it reinvigorates you to see the fountain of hope that they carry with them.

It is so very sad that the hope was extinguished so completely and suddenly. I've spoken with families who sent their children to be in my care, my heart goes out to them in so many ways...

He didn't realize she was on the flight until she posted on Facebook that she had escaped with minor injuries. (We live in San Francisco, and he goes to a big high school, so I guess it's not that surprising... but that brought the tragedy even closer to home.)
