Perhaps Wikileaks prefers Nicaragua to Venezuela, backed with evidence

There is no word from Snowden regarding the Venezuelan offer of asylum.

As I posted last night Wikileaks tweeted something that to me looked like they were pressuring Raul Castro to allow a stopover in Cuba, the only way for Snowden to get to Caracas without a private jet.

===== this is the Wikileaks tweet from yesterday:

If Raul Castro's solidarity on #Snowden is serious Cuba will publically offer Snowden asylum. #cuba #cubana #havanna

Today I noticed that Boing Boing is posting about surveillance in Venezuela.
After all the rah rah about the Latin American left they figured out there are "issues".

EDIT TO ADD: Xeni Jardin is on the board of Glenn Greenwald's Press Freedom group and tweeted this article - she also works for Boing Boing

Snowden and Venezuela: My bizarre experience in the surveillance state
In 2009, a private call placed from the US by Isabel Lara to her mother was broadcast on Venezuelan state TV. Secretly taped calls are routinely used there to disgrace political enemies—or worse. To locals, the South American surveillance state is an odd place for government transparency advocate and NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden to end up.

Nicaragua has better optics.

since it's a hot issue.

Anyway I am about to post that Snowden picked Nicaragua, at least if it's not a hoax!

Russian with a tv show would be more interesting.

But I'd have to marry Ilya Kuryakin!
