Star Of Hoekstra "Racist" Ad In Michigan Apologizes

Star Of Hoekstra "Racist" Ad In Michigan Apologizes

Lisa Chan, the actress who starred in former Rep. Pete Hoekstra's (R) Senate ad in Michigan that created a racial firestorm, apologized on Facebook Wednesday for the character she portrayed.

"I am deeply sorry for any pain that the character I portrayed brought to my communities. As a recent college grad who has spent time working to improve communities and empower those without a voice, this role is not in any way representative of who I am. It was absolutely a mistake on my part and one that, over time, I hope can be forgiven. I feel horrible about my participation and I am determined to resolve my actions."

This is why many in the AA and other minority communities push so for diversity training and incorporation of multicultural history and ideas into society. And even then, so many in the various communities end up participating in activities that do nothing but reinforce the ugly negative stereotypes in order to get on their feet financially - whether in ads such as that or on TV/film. It was good of her to express the regret.

backfire on her she went and did it anyway. None of us really know why she said yes in the first place. However I am glad she saw the light and maybe will not allow herself to be used again.

The ad was bad. But what made it worse for her was the terrible accent.
