Mueller misleads the public in the senate, responds differently in secret hearing to congress

Representative Jerrold Nadler of New York accuses Mueller of giving a misleading answer to a question about whether agents need to seek further permission before examining individual calls.

Mueller said that agents need to do so. But Nadler says that answer conflicts with an answer given in a private hearing to Congress on Tuesday.

Thank you Edward Snowden!

"Only when there is probable cause given by a federal judge can they go into the content of phone calls and emails," Nelson tells Spencer. But he sidesteps a question about whether analysts need individual court orders to query the database for metadata, saying he's said all he can say.

the guardian has had a US (online) edition for some years now, there is quite a bit of crossover between the UK and US editions online.

our government is trashed and broken. One answer is public, a different in private. Was he under oath? Not that it matters for people like him.

So I'll go ahead and post what I think he would say.

Mueller said. "Look, we're not spying on the American Citizens. But Mr. Harold G. Thustars of Omaha Nebraska should call home immediately, apparently the cat got into the dishwasher, and it's a real mess in the kitchen."
