Study: Obamacare May Reduce Premiums In New York
Obamacare could lead to lower premiums in the state of New York, according to a new study by Deloitte prepared for the New York Health Benefit Exchange.
The analysis found that the Affordable Care Act, via its subsidies and Medicaid expansion, will cut the uninsurance rate by about half (43.1 percent to 53.6 percent) and lower average morbidity by 13.9 percent.
In other words, the analysis predicted, a less sick population could improve the insurance risk pool and lead to lower premiums as insurers estimate that their payouts per patient would drop.
"There are several reasons that the New York non-group cost could decrease. Excluding Healthy New York, current non-group premiums are extremely high," the Deloitte study found. "The expected increase in the size of the non-group market post-ACA could introduce a much more typical distribution of health care needs to this market, thus leading to significantly lower premiums."

Its become the consensus in Washington that theres a Civil War going in the House Republican caucus. Politicos Jake Sherman explains:
In one camp are stiff ideologues who didnt extract any lesson from Mitt Romneys loss and are only looking to slash spending and defund President Barack Obamas health care law at every turn. In the other are lawmakers who are aligned with Cantor, who is almost singularly driving an agenda which is zeroed in on family issues.
And whos winning?
On Friday, Cantor sent a memo to House Republicans promising they would vote to repeal Obamacare for the 37th time. Why a 37th vote to demonstrate that you have no actual power to repeal Obamacare? Apparently some Republicans need to lose their repealing Obamacare virginity.
If youre a freshman, the guys whove been up here the last year we can go home and say, Listen, we voted 36 different times to repeal or replace Obamacare. tell me what the new guys are supposed to say, Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-SC) explained recently in a talk at the Heritage Foundation. We havent had a repeal or replace vote this year.

the GOP base is going to have clogged arteries from all this anti-Obamacare red meat they're being fed.
