Bieber criticized for Anne Frank comment
AMSTERDAM (AP) Justin Bieber wrote an entry into a guestbook at the Anne Frank House museum in Amsterdam, saying he hoped the Jewish teenager who died in a Nazi concentration camp "would have been a Belieber" or fan of his if history were different.
The message triggered a flood of comments on the museum's Facebook page Sunday, with many criticizing the 19-year-old Canadian pop star for writing something they perceive to be insensitive.
Calls made and emails sent to Bieber's publicist and agent in Los Angeles weren't immediately returned.
Museum spokeswoman Maatje Mostart confirmed that Bieber visited Friday evening. She said the museum was happy to have received Bieber and didn't see anything offensive in his remarks.

(16,806 posts)to many unforced errors
worked one of his concerts a few months back
tons and tons of mother-daughter fans
Moms breaking out their wallets
to finance the teeny bopper dreams of the daughters
if his actions continue I would imagine he risks becoming unsavory to those moms and the wallets will stay in the purses
and Justin will become fodder for the where are they now shows

(62,530 posts)I think we are witnessing the early stages of his eventual flameout.
The candle that burns twice as hot only lasts half as long.

(5,169 posts)A lot of young people who never heard of Anne Frank are finding out who she is.
It was egotistical, but I believe it was well intended. And considering what regularly is heard on CSPAN and the news channels, it ranks fairly low on the list of stupid things said by public figures. Five minutes of "Fox and Friends", you will hear 10 things 20 times as bad.

(7,720 posts)before this idiot went to that museum he had knew nothing about Anne Frank. I also believe after he left the museum he still had little knowledge of Anne Frank or her impact on world history.

(30,540 posts)a fan. Anne was taken with the celebrities of the time and even took pictures of them into hiding with her. The walls of her Annex room were decorated with celebrity pictures. I'm not saying it wasn't insensitive of Bieber, plus being very egotistic. I'm just saying Anne was an average teen-ager and followed what went on in Hollywood.

(80,708 posts)I wouldn't categorize it as any kind of outrage.
Just makes him look sort of goofy.

I also agree with people who are pointing out that child stars / pre-pubescent entertainers have an especially rough time with some aspects of maturity.

(805 posts)or does it seem like the kid is starting to go off the rails? Not because of his comment in the guestbook, I could picture some 19 year olds saying the same because they haven't quite grown out of their self centeredness (is that a word? lol) yet. He's just been acting out as of late. Not sure what's up but I've seen it before with people in the entertainment industry that started very young. It usually leads to some pretty bad roads. I hope he doesn't fall victim to that stuff.

He has peanuts for a brain, just like nearly every other 19 year old kid.
