I have lurked for years on this forum. I have also engaged for years. Those who know me, know i have done a lot for the progressive movement. From Kucinich, to Dean, to DNC, to many elected officials and NGO (Amnesty International) that said... on the "anniversary" of Iraq war... I posted this on Facebook to my cooperate media bosses, my alt-weekly bosses and my previous friends of Democracy for America, Progressive Democrats of America, the Green Party and all part of my Facebook friend network. I started in the DU forum, so I felt I also needed to share this statement here. You are the ones I first engaged with before I moved on to political hackery... I am now evolved from that....
"I might not be proud of the footprint I left with best intentions (organizations, awkward coalitions, etc.) I am proud I took a stand from the get. I stood up and paused my life to NOT go into war. Once we were in, I fought hard to mitigate the killings. I worked along side many great people in Congress and the grassroots of America. All I can say it I was proud of the path and those who continue to end this war. 10 years today... over 250,000 lives. For what? I know I can tell my children... when we look back... I tried. We tried. America was not unified in this war. We must learn from this. We must be humble. We must be global citizens. 10 years of killing on both sides is 10 years too much. I have left politics, and don't post much on this subject matter these days. But today... regardless of your position on this... is a day to reflect and be humbled."

(12,081 posts)It is incredibly frustrating. How do you fight when both sides have been bought? How do you fight money?
