We have out winners of the Winter Photo Contest.
In first place and the Grand Prize Winner of Spring Contest hosting duties is Mz Pip with the beautiful Reflections on a Winter's Day.
And in second Mira with the unique Frozen Birdbath Abstraction.
And last but not least in third place is Pharaoh with the wonderful Bridge in a Snow storm.
A heartfelt thank you to all our contestants, without you there would not be a photo contest to distract us all from the news of the day for a few minutes. All of you are winners in my book. I am not going to do a host choice because well there are just too many favorites for me to chose one. Get busy taking spring photos for the next seasonal contest and watch for the monthly contest beginning soon.
BTW I really miss the you rock smiley.
Adding because of a request....The rest of them. Not all of us list the order of all the photos but will since it was requested. To see them you can go here.

WHO"S A GOOD BOY!
Skittles
(153,169 posts)awwwww - reminds me of the posts on The Rainbow Bridge - filled with glowing tributes to pets who have passed on - many of them quite lengthy and detailed - yet the one that has always stayed in my mind was a guy who posted about his dog and it simply said, "You were a GOOD GIRL."

The contests usually have about 30 entries
so tenth ain't too shabby methinks!

(8,039 posts)No way was I trying it when I did the original thread. They used to not do more the the top three but then a few people started listing them all. I would go with letting each host decide on how much more risk of making a mistake they want to take. lol That is the hardest part of hosting, the worry about messing up. Oh we used to have ribbons to post too but as the contest grew that fell by the wayside.

(nice pictures, everyone else... puppy-less pictures, but nice)
CC
(8,039 posts)adorable. And entered by a newcomer to both the group and DU. Great job for a 1st timer.
My guess is people tended to vote toward the photos that had a Zen feel to them. Just a guess but they do have that feel imho.

(12,008 posts)In actuality, I defer to the group. Thinking about this, I've probably taken fewer photographs in my lifetime than some photographers take in a day. That said, I like puppies, and I think it was a really nice picture, and did really evoke ideas I have about winter.

(8,039 posts)what the viewer gets from it partly depends on what they bring to it.

(27,451 posts)Thanks to everyone who liked my photo. It was taken in Yosemite where I do believe it is impossible to take a bad photo.
I love winter because we don't have if here. I have to make a special trip to see snow.
All the photos were beautiful IMHO.

(22,380 posts)2 memorable spectacular winter images. The entire contest was filled with some of the most wonderful photographs, one right after the other. I had a new favorite every time I looked.
The group rose to new heights with these entries.
I'm proud to be a part of it.
