Besides the quality movie in circulation, there are tons of excellent LINCOLN products on cable, so WHY OH WHY would great Lib HANKS and various other Lib production entities give O'LOOFAH's insufferable ego such a boost as to partner with him?!1
After the first hour of a test drive, I switched to the Shahs of Sunset, to *much* more edifying effect!1 The actor portraying LINCOLN looked like Dennis MILLER, in tune with O'LOOFAH's self-indulgence in recycling FAILED jerks like MILLER, Bernie GOLDDIGGER, CAROLLA, Toesucker (erstwhile), and countless others, like him who couldn't soar in the real networks.
The format of the crapola was something like, "At this point LINCOLN/BOOTH had X number of days/hours to live." There's a series on Current TV featuring the "last 24" hours of celebrities (Janis JOPLIN, MORRISON, GAYE, BELUSHI) that is much better done.
Just WHO is "buying" O'LOOFAH's paid-for-writers' books to keep them on the NYT best sellers list for over a year?!1
Here're some subjects for O'LOOFAH that would be legitimate facinators: His failed "reporting" career, his marriage, his sexual harassment...

Killing Lincoln: TV Review
.... Killing Lincoln is a docudrama narrated by Tom Hanks, executive produced by Ridley Scott and his late brother Tony and written by Erik Jendresen (Band of Brothers), based on Bill OReillys book. ....
Much of the history is spoken, not seen, and though Campbell does the best he can with his role, the docudrama seems thin and disconnected -- as if the scripted, acted parts are merely in service of Hanks narration. This doesnt allow the characters, events or even the sense of place to be fully realized. ....
Johnson plays Booth in a manner far too broad to be taken seriously. Its as if hes trying to do a dramatic reading of how Booth the actor might grandiosely say the words as put into his mouth in this film. That is, if were to view Booth as a man who spoke like he was onstage no matter what situation he was in -- plotting Lincolns death, picking up his mail, reading his own letters out loud -- then we get all too well hes a misguided, delusional blowhard. If, however, that wasnt the intent, someone needed to ratchet Johnson back and have him play the role with a less flowery flourish. Its like hes impersonating The Rocky and Bullwinkle Shows Snidely Whiplash, twisting his mustache while plotting to tie Lincoln to the railroad tracks.
The other structure that crumbles is a narrative device wherein Hanks must repeat such lines as, Lincoln has 12 days to live. Or, Lincoln has four days to live. Or, Booth will be dead in 10 days. This running timeline is littered throughout Killing Lincoln and doesnt make it more dramatic, only more obvious in its desperation to be dramatic.
Ultimately, Killing Lincoln is 90 minutes of bad timing.

(17,505 posts).... just help remind one that the current Republicans have little, if nothing, to do with the Radical Republicans of Lincoln.
Do the RWers not SEE that?

(19,964 posts)... all I can say about the guy playing Booth is, was there actually any scenery left for him to chew by the end of this production? Gads, he was awful.

(5,937 posts)I wouldn't read O'Reilly's books but I may see this. As for Hannity, cannot stand the sight of him, I only bring him up to make contrast.
