Update: They cut my food stamps even after following all the advice here.

I had my review and even with a doc's note, which cost 50 bucks that I now have to find a way to pay back, they stopped my food stamps anyway. They really don't care if I don't have a way to make the 23 mile round trip to the job center. I hit the food pantries. They are all limited as they only help folks about 3 times a year. Gods...I wish I had a job. Almost 5 years of unemployment sure makes ya feel pretty worthless. Thanks for letting me vent.

I hate what this country has become.

Have you tried calling churches in your area? Maybe they know of some immediate help.

there is for childless adults.

Do not feel guilty. The fact that you worried about taking food from kids shows you are a good caring human being.

I hope you find something soon! Keep trying even when if it feels too hard.

I see you're in Ohio. I can't tell you how often I'm seeing people in dire need, not only due to under/unemployment but due to social programs being slashed.

I am so very, very, very sorry. It's awful. I have no adequate words.

Forgive me if you've tried this already, but you can dial 211 or go to 211.org to see if there are existing resources available they may know of that you haven't stumbled upon yet.

Seriously, there should be something we can do here. We have 200K registered users. If we could convince even 10% to contribute even a buck or two a month to some kind of DU assistance fund that would go a long way towards helping people out.
