if I'm looking out my window and someone is letting their dog crap on my lawn right where I will have to walk to get to my car, am I legally allowed to shoot them?
The person of course, not the dog.

(7,904 posts)not helping.
My neighbors two houses down just open their door and let the dog out. We have dozens of people who walk their dogs late and night when they think no one is watching and let the dogs crap where ever they want. I live half a block from the school and every morning some kid is stepping in crap from one of these jerks.
I have my backyard fenced in so that my dog isn't crapping on other peoples yards.

(23,664 posts)it should be legal to shoot him (the guy not the dog).

(146,329 posts)However, you can go outside and hurl imprecations at that person. That sometimes works. Usually, however, it does not.

(7,904 posts)I had one guy actually look at me and sneer as he walked away without even saying sorry.
there's your answer. Just ask, no need to shoot.

(7,904 posts)I might need to build a version of those bag dispensers they have at the parks.
Sorry if I seem crazy about the issue but as a dog owner myself this is a basic responsibility as an animal owner.

(2,036 posts)I mean, if he's standing there prepared to curb his dog I really think you just need to relax. Dogs shit. Good owners pick up that shit if its on other people's yards.
As a dog owner I am tired as hell of people screaming at me for letting my dog squat on their lawns when I am standing there with a bag on my hand, or even in the actual act of picking up a handful of shit.
If, on the other hand, they make no effort to clean up after their dog I fully support following them home and you shitting on their lawn.

(7,904 posts)Dog owner to dog owner I am of the rule that you walk the dog with the bag visible. I usually say hello the owner and dog. I realize that my lawn is a target since the dogs are frantically sniffing around for my dog.
It's the squat and run SOBs that I want to throttle.

(36,286 posts)put in in a bag and leave it for him on his door step.
You may wish to set the bag on fire to ensure he finds it.

(8,556 posts)Apparently there was a huge flap about people letting their dogs poop in the communal lawn area. One guy was known to pick it up and smear it on the doors of dog owners. That takes some dedication.
I don't think he was popular.

(7,904 posts)We have friends that live in a development with a stone wall. they live along the wall and people walking their dogs don't realize what is behind the wall.
A few time a week he has bags of dog crap tossed over the wall into his back yard.
