Ah, America. Texas couple fatally shot in argument over dog feces

http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/02/05/16850151-cops-texas-couple-fatally-shot-in-argument-over-dog-feces?lite

A couple with four children were shot and killed in an argument over dog feces on Monday, police in Texas said.

When officers arrived, they found two people, later identified as 32-year-old Michelle Jackson and 31-year-old Jamie Stafford, dead at the scene from apparent gunshot wounds. An infant inside the couple's apartment was not injured.

After talking with witnesses, police began searching for Chung Kim, a resident of the complex identified by residents as a man who lived in the unit below Stafford and Jackson and was seen leaving the complex after the shooting.

Investigators said the couple had been dumping dog feces on the patio and at the front door of Kim's apartment.

Common sense has died. Lacking simple respect for others and animals, a dog was given no option but to urinate and defecate on the balcony, over and over and over and over.

I wonder how this chain of events would have been different had respect for others been a priority?

I was not a happy camper. They were above me, on the 3rd floor, and used hot water in sub-zero weather to wash their deck down. Guess where it went? The people below me got it even worse, as they had a concrete slab.

and they had school age 4 kids. i remember living in a second story apartment with my rambunctious 3 year old son. my downstairs neighbors constantly complained about all the "noise" from my son running on the floor. (never mind the fact that there were 4 of them and they smoked cigs like chimneys and the smoke wafted up to my windows and into my apartment, and i said nothing about it!)

but you're right, the dead folks were too lazy to walk their damn dog! still....not something to shoot someone over!

Just pointing out the obvious; those folks would still be alive if they weren't terrorizing this guy. Might seem like a strong word, but I'm sure that's how he felt. I've spent most of my life in apartments and there is nothing worse than a bad upstairs neighbor. You're at their mercy and these people didn't have any.

All you need to do when somebody pulls shit like this is set up a small video camera, catch them in the act, then sue them, get them evicted, put the video up on youtube or pass out copies to all the neighbors. Humiliation works just fine.

Shooting people over shit like this...not so much.

It isn't crazy people most of the time. It's sane people who get really pissed off. Even if they have a right to be pissed off, they don't have a right to kill people, and without guns they wouldn't be able to.

I don't know what the answer is. I don't think banning guns is realistic. I don't think mental health checks will make any real difference because not even all mentally ill people are identified, and so many violent people aren't mentally ill. Is there any reason to believe more mentally ill people are violent than people in the general population people are?

Somehow we'd have to screen for violent tendencies to make a real difference in gun violence, but that seems unlikely.

It isn't clear, from the video or article, who the board is. Most of the places over there are 100% renters, and they typically don't have a HOA kind of thing going on. Again, I have no idea for sure, but it sounds like Mr Kim was complaining to management (aka slumlord) rather than an elected body like what is found in more upscale neighborhoods/complexes.

Seems there's more going on that just what was reported initially.
The two people that were murdered, were reportedly ex-cops, and had 7 people living in that apt over the shooters apt.
Their dog(s) may have been involved in the mauling of the shooters wife.
The shooter complained to management repeatedly about the noise and the dog shit and urine.
But they did nothing.

Can I blame the guy for being pissed off?
Nope.

I can blame him for pulling the trigger though.

"When they come home today, their mother and their father is gone. Little baby, they call the newborn Little Mama, Little Mama is not going to never know her parents,” said Washington.

So the orphan is going to know her parents.

"I heard about eight or nine gunshots just go off, ‘Bow, bow, bow,’ like three separate times,” said resident Michael Issa. “It was like, first there was two or three, then there was a pause for like 30 or 40 seconds and then there was another three or four shots, and there was a pause, and a couple more shots

"I waited for like three or four minutes and I ain't hear nothing. I came outside to smoke a cigarette and look upstairs and there's feet hanging over my head," he added.

Like expecting people to not be ignorant and uneducated is somehow considered a "sheltered life" - or the converse: either being that way or knowing people like that is somehow a rich fulfilling life.

When these slack jawed yokels say something like, "I don't know no one with no college degree" - do people say to them, "You must live a sheltered life."
