So I heard that last week a bunch of evangelicals converged in the nation's capital and protested against Roe v. Wade. Well, I remembered this article "Is It Safe to Play Yet? Going to Extreme Lengths to Purge Household Toxins" I read last year in the NYT. And then another story on DU more recently about Salt Lake City urging pregnant women to stay home due to excessive air pollution. Which gets me thinking, where were the "Marches for Life" at...
the HQ's of the companies that manufacture toxic and polluting products? Like the companies that make toxic baby products that contain BPA a compound linked to cancer, brain issues, hormone problems, etc.?? (Yes I know the FDA under Obama banned BPA last year, but the "pro life" movement had DECADES to "March for Life" against BPA.)
Or against McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, and the fast food restaurants that market those fatty kids' meals that are screwing up the health of children nationwide of all classes, poor, middle class, and rich? Oh wait, the same halfwits who subscribe to the so-called pro-life doctrine turn around and scream in terror at Michelle Obama because...Michelle Obama DARED to speak out against junk food?
Or the agribusiness firms that put all that HFCS in kids' food and similarly affected children's health as Happy Meals did, to unsuspecting parents who assumed their kids were healthy just because they only eat at McD's for birthday parties or special events?
Or the factory farms whose operations not only harm the farm animals slaughtered but also spread all sorts of diseases and contaminations like E. Coli or salmonella? People (adults AND children) have gotten sick or killed by those pathogens, the NYT even profiled one woman permanently disabled by e coli in beef. But noooooooooo, leave that protesting to the organic granola-eating Prius-driving Democrat-voting libs in San Francisco and Portland, not the average normal "tr00 4m3r1c4n" in Wichita or Bismarck!
Or at schools that failed to do SHIT about bullying especially against LGBT students, who in some cases COMMIT SUICIDE over the bullying? Oh wait, never mind, those who wave those graphic posters at Planned Parenthood clinics would rather take those gay kids to Marcus Bachmann's quackery clinics than do anything constructive at all. (I'm glad my home state banned reparative therapy this year.)
Quite tragically the "Marchers for Life" are part of a greater political movement that has blinded many in the middle and working classes into voting for the evangelical industry's interests rather than their own, not realizing they are being pickpocketed every day by the fat-cat corporate polluter interests who back the "pro life" party. I think some of you may even know people who think this way I describe: despite struggling with their mortgage, medical bills, etc. they'd vote for a politician who says in his ads "I'll defund Planned Parenthood" even if said politician will vote against programs that would relieve the voter's situation.
